Skimming the Scriptures

I have caught myself lately, when reading a Bible passage I've read many times before, kind of skimming, thinking, "Oh yeah, I know this stuff..." Yikes!

Then when I catch myself doing that, and I go back and read carefully, I'm amazed at what I see there. Things I didn't remember. Things I've never noticed before.

I need to be more careful!

We'll be in B'ham Saturday afternoon through the first of next week. Maybe we could go to the zoo or something?

Mmmm I love cadbury eggs! Too much I'm afraid. I have to refrain from buying ten boxes this time of year because I know I won't be able to get them for a while again. :)

I enjoy reading from new translations because I'm not so used to the wording that way. It helps to keep from skimming so much.

Oooooo! Cadbury eggs. It's a good thing they're only available for a short time.

I like to read from different translations too, to keep the thoughts alive. And, I used to like Cadbury eggs a lot - this year I didn't get any, and actually didn't miss it. Hmm. Have I outgrown them? Hope everyone is all better soon, and running rampant. :)

I love Cadbury eggs, too. They're the only eggs that I'm not allergic to. Yes, I'm allergic to eggs. I'm also allergic to turkey. That makes it rough during Thanksgiving.

Separate cages except for strict supervision. :) The baby girl needs to be 12 - 18 months before the recommend her breeding. I'm sure there will be some difficult months ahead!!!

I was thinking the other day that sometimes it is nice to read a bible without any notes written in it as well. It allows us to see the passage for what it says instead of what we've always been taught.

I often have caught myself doing the same thing. It's hard when we rush rush rush all day, and then sit down to do our daily reading, and it sometimes turns out to be rushed too. I have found that I personally need to slow down before diving into my homework or daily reading. Saying a prayer before I start has helped me to stay focused. Thanks for the thoughts Laura!

Oh, I've found myself doing that, too! I started taking notes, reading aloud...anything to get out of the ho-hum attitude!
