Cold

I have a plain ole ordinary cold virus. I' m taking lysine for sore throat, elderberry, vitamin C, drank some apple cider vinegar diluted in warm water yesterday, Claritin D for stuffy head and plugged ears. Lots of soup and liquids.

Ok bring on your family remedies. What different things do you do for a cold, just curious?

Stay well, there's a jungle of viruses out there! Wash your hands and don't scratch your nose or eyes in public, you don't know what's on your hands.

Get well soon! I like chicken soup in particular. Also, Echinacea.

I'd say you're the pro on remedies! All those things should definitely scare off your cold. I haven't had one in a very long time, but if I feel like I'm getting one, I like to take Airborne or Emergence-C. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I had the stuff too but not as bad as you. I gargled for my sore throat with salt water. Also used my nettie pot for my sinuses. My Dr. was okay with that and suggested I use saline solution or Ocean to nose. I drank lots of hot tea and water with lemon. I slept alot too. At 6 days I was better but still do not have any volume when I try to sing hymns at church. I also made a soup with chicken, chicken broth and garlic.

I hope you get better soon!

I traded gargling my throat with salt water to eating very hot, salty french fries. I'm happier and so's my throat. At night, I have found milk chocolate coated my throat much better than cough drops so I keep those in the night stand when I am sick (so I don't eat them during the day around the house) When we moved in Nov, we found chocolate in the bedside table from before Easter.

Vitamin D, all of the time! I haven't had a bad cold since I started taking it a few years ago. I still get colds, but they aren't miserable ones.

If you're taking 4000 IU per day, then I must just be lucky! I was afraid to take that much and usually buy the 1000s. So... my experience is just anecdotal evidence. Maybe I'd better stop recommending it!

We take Mucinex DM. We worship with 2 doctors and a few years ago David had a cold and ask one of them if they would prescribe something for it. They said I can prescribe something and it will be better in 7 days or so or you can do nothing and it will be better in a week or so. ha! So I derive from that that it just has to run its course.

Happy New Year!

Sorry friends, I took a few months off. I had carpel tunnel surgery on my left wrist, had Thanksgiving and then went with Gerald to Amsterdam in December. It was great, cold and rainy but put me behind a week in Christmas shopping and baking. I only baked one batch of peanut butter blossom cookies for the holidays and gave most of them away. I did make one batch of pralines for my aunt and shared those as well. What cookies did you bake or candy did you make this year?

How was your holiday? I was truly blessed to be with family.

God is so wonderful. When I think back over the past year, I see his hand helping in so many ways.

May we all have a blessed 2013!

Many blessings and trials this past year, and God's strength kept it and us altogether.

    Happy New Year, Candy!

Still making cookies. I've already made a batch of chocolate raspberry chips, snickerdoodles, molasses. I still have more chocolate raspberry chips to make along with some oatmeal butterscotch. The praline pecans were made yesterday.

I hope by now your wrist has healed. I baked various cookies but my favorite new recipe was a peanut butter oatmeal one. I also made mini M & M bars. Those were yummy!

Halloween is coming!

What was your favorite kind of candy to get as a kid?
Do you dress up to pass out candy?
Did you go to any Halloween parties this year, and what did you dress as?

We won't have many trick or treaters this year since it falls on Wednesday night.

I may not buy anything besides what I keep on hand for Gerald. I put a hand full of small Reece cup candies in his lunch every day. I can always use his stash if they come before we head to Bible class. I just remembered while cleaning I found crazy bands in Halloween shapes I didn't pass out last year, where did I put them again? Uhmmm anyone else have that problem?

Have a great week!

We probably wouldn't have any kids even if it wasn't Wednesday. Our street doesn't have any small children that I know about. But I need to buy one bag of candy just in case. So many parents take their little ones to a mall or zoo or somewhere they trust.

As a kid and as an adult: Mounds, Snickers (frozen) and peanut M & M's.
In the old house - sometimes I would dress up, sometimes not.
We had a Halloween party with folks from church: I dress up as some sort of bald, cape draped, spider matron. :)
Melissa had several cars do a 'trunk or treat' kind of cool....google it. I did spider webs, etc.
    All in good fun...

I could have written your last paragraph! lol! My favorite candy was anything chocolate, esp. Reeces. I haven't dressed up in years, nor gone to any Halloween parties in "forever". Are you dressing up?

Any chocolate was and still is my favorite Halloween candy. We aren't doing anything for Halloween this year. There's just too much going on. When it falls on Wednesday, it's just too much trouble. Amazingly enough, the kids seem okay with it. I told them that next year would be easier and we could enjoy it more. We rarely have any trick or treaters. We live behind the church building and there is only one other house on our street. We usually take the kids to the zoo or downtown trick or treating events.

HI Candy! I dressed up every year as a kid...homemade costumes like a ghost. I remember dressing up in my dad's army uniform several years! I think Reeses were my favorite. Great memories of trick or treating with Clay, Lindsey, Ashley and Andrew when ya'll were in BR. I remember taking the kids in the haunted house with Gerald.(You stayed at the house to hand out candy I think. ) It scared the kids to death!!! Andrew shot them with his cowboy gun when we drove by on the way home.

The LSU game was a fun game to watch...very physical. We were surprised at the outcome. It's still my favorite game of the season.
We are doing well...hope you are too!
