It has been almost a year since the last time I put an entry up so there was much to do. Last year was one of my busiest years of school because of all the training I had to do for ROTC to prepare me for the training I went to this summer out at Fort Lewis, WA. The long days and stressful year paid off in that I passed the training course this summer which therefore means in May 2011 I will commission as a 2 Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. It was good training as well as I got to see a part of the country I'd never seen before. Also this summer I had the opportunity to stay with my sister Sarah and brother-in-law Ethan in Ohio as I worked out there where they lived. It was great to spend time with them considering they live 6 hours away and I didn’t get to see them or the kids that much. I also worked on their house quite a bit too. Also while I was out there, Ethan and I picked up playing disc golf. I know I’m not that great at it and it was fun to just get out and relax sometimes. Also this summer, I had the great opportunity to be on staff again at the Chicagoland Florida College Booster Club Summer Camp. This was my third year on staff and it just gets better every year I’m there. A funny thing about camp was that I was a counselor and one of the boys in my cabin was in my sister’s wedding in 2000. That was just weird when I heard that. Well on to the now. I just started my senior year at Illinois State University. I feel it will be a great year too.
Well I hope God blesses you all and always put your faith in the Lord. WeeMan out!
Where to start? Well, I am just started another semester closer to me graduating with a degree in construction management. This semester starts the more in depth construction courses which should be a lot of fun because of lots of hands on stuff, but also all the math I get to do. Yes, I'm a freak because I love doing math.
This past summer, I worked most of it at the National Guard Armory where my unit drills. I worked there to help get things in order for when my unit comes back from Afghanistan in September. Being able to work there got me a chance to live at home for the summer and it was the first summer at home since the summer after my senior year in high school. This meant the family got to see me all the time again. It was good to be home that long too which meant home cooked meals!!
Also, this summer I was on staff at the FC Chicagoland Camp again. This year, I was a counselor in Buccs with the middle age boys. That was a blast to do. Being up there at camp is always fun because you are out in nature seeing God's glory while being attacked by deer flies and mosquitoes. It is always great to be down by the lake for morning devotions with fellow Christians singing songs and seeing God's creations all around us. Also I was in charge of bus one going to worship and that has the really little kids on it. My favorite qoute from camp was Sunday evening getting on the bus to go to worship, Jena Mosburg asks Justin Alvarez about me because of me yelling for the kids to follow me, "Is Seth always this loud?" and Justin's reply was a simple, "Yes he is." Also this year, I brought out the face paint for the Philippians. It was our signature to me yelling, "Let me see your warface!" All in all, it was a great year at camp this year even though I lost my voice again. I hope to be back next year too.
Well thats all for now from Normal, but remember I'm not normal. Remember to always give glory to the Father above for all we may accomplish in life. WeeMan out!
I know I don't comment on this enough, but life is full of lots of stuff to do especially when one is in college. Right now I have 4 and 1/2 weeks left of classes this semester and I am looking forward to having winter break. Thanksgiving I'm off a week for school and my parents and I (and maybe my brother) plan to go to Ohio to see my sister and family over that holiday. I saw snow Sunday night driving back to school from Rockford, IL and it shows falls already over and that winter will hit hard this year. Oh and yes since the temperature is dropping, I have been baking stuff lately. I made apple-crisp first part of October and I made brownies on my birthday. I'm glad I was lucky enough to have parents who cook and taught me how to cook. Of course though, I do experiment on different types of dinners I can create. Now here are my 8 things since I was tagged.
1)I have been told before that I grew up in the wrong era because my dream car is a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS. Either Illini orange or navy blue.
2)When I was little I wanted to be a firefighter when I grew up.
3)In my immediate family, I am the weird one in the bunch. I am the only one with a birthday ending in an odd number and I am also the only one to have a birthday toward the end of the year.
4)I never took a home economics class growing up and yet I know how to sew, and crochet and cook.
5)My senior year in high school after the football season was over, a couple of teammates from the football team and I started "Dress Up Because it is Thursday" where we would come to school in a suit and tie just because it was Thursday. It started with 5 guys doing it and went to a quarter of the school doing it by the end of the school year.
6)When I was about 9, I jumped off the house roof.
7)I am known to randomly funny lines from all sorts of movies.
8)I learned to drive through the many years I spent at my grandparents' house mowing their many acres on the riding lawn mower.
That is my list and I'm sticking to it. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here. So until next time WeeMan out!!
I'm back from an exciting and uplifting time being on staff at camp this past week. It was great to see everyone again and to be able to spend a week learning from God's word. It was also fun to be able to play on a sports team. It was all around a great week of being with friends and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope to be back next year. Now I'm getting ready for another semester at Illinois State University to start the 18th of Aug. Where does time go anymore? Well that is all for now. WeeMan out!
