Can this Alabama weather get any hotter?? Actually, I love summertime and try to never miss a day sitting on the front porch in the early morning...saying a little prayer or thinking about how we all are blessed.
Jana and Matt are expecting twins after the first of the year...My sweet Caroline and Jackson are the sweetest grandbabies...so life is fun! :-)
My sweet little boy just turned 17 on June 24...he is staying busy with basketball for Briarwood. He actually worked a camp this week with elementary age children...one little boy bought him something from the concession stand and thanked him for "teaching" him basketball...:-) warmed his heart... :-)
Sweet little ones...
Well Justin's sophomore year is about to wrap up and I cannot imagine where this year has gone. We enjoyed watching him play basketball this year on the high school varsity team. He did well..and loved every minute of it. We would love to see him play basketball at Florida College..one day..but just thinking of my LAST one going to college.....(sigh)
So glad spring is here..which means a family trip to the beach isn't far behind! I am ready for those Thomas's biscuits..and a big swing on the porch ...listening to that ocean....and taking long walks at night ..peering in the beach homes wishing one was mine!!
Like the time my family (you know who you are)..much to MY coaxing...wandered on the porch of a seemingly empty very nice beach home to admire it..peered in the window..only to come face to face with the owner doing a little painting in the living room...for a while my family needed a little convincing to go on a walk with me from time to time...wonder why?
I honestly am amazed at how time flies! We had a wonderful December...seems like it was certainly extra busy. We traveled to Disneyworld the day after Christmas...to watch Justin play in his high school basketball tournament. We didn't think we were going because of a conflict with Marks job...but it worked out for us to go afterall. It was very exciting....if I am allowed to brag....he hit 5 3-point shots in a single game....which was 2 shy of a school record ...he was told. So it was certainly worth the drive to get to see him have an exciting game.
Christmas is great fun with 2 little grandbabies!! Fun spoiling them...My sweet Caroline had broken a very special Christmas ornament while putting up her tree...a special ornament that she picked out in last years trip to Disneyworld with Julie and Blake.
Cinderella was very helpful to Mark and I as we searched Disneyworld over to replace the ornament. Her face lit up as she opened her Mickey Mouse box to find her ornament..."all together again"....such fun!!
Hope everyone has a great new start to this year. I plan to travel to Auburn to see Jana and Matt a little more often and of course Tex...:-)
Jana and I had a great time on our recent trip to Savannah. Our men were out of town so we decided to venture out on a little trip of our own.
We had a great time. We rode the orange and green trolley during our sight seeing tour with a great guide...(I think Jana was the youngest person on there!) We learned quite a bit of history and saw quite a few "interesting" folks along the way. We ate and ate and ate at the Paula Deen "Lady and Sons". It was fantastic food. We also saw a show from the 50's that the hotel had recommended. I felt like I was at a Broadway show. It was local people singing but it was so so good!
I was quite the scarity cat when it came to walking around at night..Jana reminded me to "just walk as if your not a tourist and don't stare!"
I think my age is showing because I never quite caught on!
We loved the beautiful trees with the moss hanging on them and even learned that in the "olden days" pillows were stuffed from the "chigger" filled moss...which is where the phrase, "sleep tight..don't let the bed bugs bite" came from! Neat, huh?
What a fun weekend! Justin and his friends camped out at ESPN gameday! My sweet Mark, ...camped too.... in a very small little tent..next to them..and listened to the LOUD sounds... all night long of a college town before the big game. Still "feeling it" this Monday morning he says...but worth it to see 3 ...16 year old boys enjoy themselves at a BIG game like LSU!
We all loved being with Jana and Matt and of course...TEX. Loved the services Sunday Morning at University church of Christ...great singing and preaching!
