The Eye of Satan
This post is an extended comment in response to Becky's post.
Perhaps this goes without saying but I do not believe that Satan has very many of the same characteristics as God. They both are spirits however God has no beginning and no end and God is all powerful and all present. Have you ever "felt" the presence of God? I don't mean have you ever experience an encounter where God revealed His will to you in some physical way. God's power and presence is evident all around us. Since the beginning of time God has set nature in its course to do His will and everything God has created (except for man) from that time until now is obedient to Him.
So how about another question, have you ever "felt" the presence of Satan? Satan is not like God. Satan is infinitely less powerful and yet his work is also clearly seen throughout all the earth. We know from scripture that Satan "...**walks** about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet. 5:8)" And also in God's conversation with Satan in Job. 1:7 - The LORD said to Satan, "From where have you come?" Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going **to and fro** on the earth, and from **walking up and down** on it." These passages and others indicate that Satan cannot be everywhere all the time. Like the Eye of Sauron the Devil can focus his attention on what he wishes but he cannot see everything or be everywhere continuously.
I've never known for certain that Satan was in my house but I have pushed God away enough to allow room for him to come in. I have experienced some very scary nights alone in my apartment and feared that evil was prowling across my bedroom floor looking for an opportunity to devour me. How humbling it is to push God away and then immediately cry out to Him for help. God loves us more than we can know.
