Thoughts for the day.

Random thoughts, but thoughts none-the-less:
  • This morning when my clock radio came on, I "double-clicked" the snooze bar.
  • I drive 30 miles to work at about the same time each morning. Why is it that I don't see the same cars every day?
  • It's cold in my office today. It's 56 outdoors (at 9:30). I don't think we need the air conditioner indoors today.
  • You can still buy a motherboard with ISA slots! (They're expensive, though.)
  • You're never gonna see no unicorn.

Hello, there! It would be a good afternoon to remove the T-tops, if I had some. I'd rather have a real convertible though. Cruisin' down the road, top down, eating Lucky Charms.

Better still... I rode the bike today. The ultimate in open motoring (assuming that a Buick is your speed). "Cruising" is the right word.

Whereabouts? I think we (in Houston) may be through with anything resembling "cold," not that it ever gets really cold here anyway. Lowest low I see on Accuweather for the next 15 days is 43. It's 70 right now, and supposed to reach 74 today. Front tomorrow, so the high Saturday will be low 60s. People sure complained when it rained for the first 5 weeks of the year and there were a couple of light freezes. Cold and wet is miserable. Anyway, sit by the fire and enjoy that!

Hmmm....

What do the two who comment on this weblog have in common? Actually, that question is a hint to the following mystery songs.

1)
I'll never find another girl like you,
for happy endings it takes two
We're fire and ice,
the dream won't come true

2)
Drowning in the sea of love,
where everyone would love to drown.

3)
Baby hair, with a woman's eyes
I can feel you watching, in the night.
All alone with me, ahh
we're waiting for the sunlight

Common theme! Maybe your mothers were inspired by the music.

Titles and artists, please!

I know, but I'll pass. I've never heard the song about the Trans Am on her weblog.

Très bien! And what about number 2?
    by two at 02/17/04 6:44PM

Orange Juice, homestyle, with lots of pulp.

"The Land of the Midnight Sun." That's Norway, of course, but parts of Alaska, Canada, and Russia fit the description too.

It only applies in the summertime though. In the winter, you might call it the "Land of the Midday Sun," because the sun is only up for a couple of hours every day. Not many people can deal with that! You have to have a certain amount of light in your life.

Have you seen the television commercial with the two little kids sitting on the front porch? The boy is trying to drink orange juice through a straw, and he's having to work pretty hard at it. It turns out that it isn't because the juice has a lot of pulp and won't come through the straw, but because everytime he draws on it, the sun peeks up over the horizon just a little bit. When he lets go, it sinks a bit, but not all the way back. Eventually, he manages to get a complete sunrise. And the little girl smiles.

Turns out that life is like that. The sun can't be up all of the time, of course. But if you keep working at it, even if you're in the land of the mid-day sun, you can get it to come up a little early and stay out a little longer.

Some days you need a sturdier straw, like the ones they give you at Sonic so the milkshake won't cause a collapse.

Shooting stars.

I saw a twinkle in her eye
It lit a fire deep inside
But it burned so wild and strong
I knew it wouldn't last for long

'Cause love takes time
And it's hard to find
You gotta take some time
To let love grow

I saw a shooting star go by
It blazed a path across the sky
But the beauty did not last, no
Some things just happen all too fast

But love takes time
And it's hard to find
You gotta take some time
To let love grow

Well some think love's a game
You play for a night or two
But I think that's a shame
'Cause I know that in the end
They're bound to lose
Love takes time
Yes it's hard to find
You gotta take some time
To let love grow

this fromthe 8o's. Not firefall , Little river boat...around that time. Is it a one hit wonder?...Everyone was singing the chorus here but stumped. And Mom said she loved that song!!

"Still The One," "Dance With Me," and "Love Takes Time" were their bigger hits. "Still The One" was the ABC television theme song one year. I love Firefall and The Little River Band, too!

If I fall along the way
Pick me up and dust me off
And if I get too tired to make it
Be my breath so I can walk

If I need some other love
Give me more than I can stand
And when my smile gets old and faded
Wait around I'll smile again

Should't be so complicated
Just hold me and then
Just hold me again

Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
You're breaking me in
And this is how we will end
With you and me bent

If I couldn't sleep could you sleep
Could you paint me better off
Could you sympathize with my needs
I know you think I need alot

I started out clean but know I'm jaded
Just phoning it in
Just breaking the skin

Start bending me
It's never enogh
I feel all your pieces
Start bending me
Keep bending me until I'm completly broken in

Should't be so complicated
Just touch me and then
Just touch me again
