Gospel Meeting

We are so thrilled to have Jonathan Purkhiser preaching for us this week. Yesterday's lessons were just what I needed and I can't wait for the next 5. Johnathan has a wonderful way of convicting while encouraging at the same time. It's going to be a great week!

So glad you are enjoying it so far. I can't believe we are coming there until 2013!!! How weird scheduling works. Simon's schedule has filled up fast. Jonathan is going to preach in our lectureship here in October. I hope Jill and the kids come with him. I hope you guys can make it this summer.

Over a year!

Wow, it has been over a year since I have been on pleo! I'm afraid I'm a facebook junkie these days. I'll try to do a little better in the future though.
  • homeschoolmomma23
Please do. We don't do Facebook and don't plan to in the future, so for my sake maybe every little bit just post what is going on with you guys.

The Flu has landed

Unfortunately, just one day after commenting that my family has been extraordinarily healthy this winter, the flu has hit. So much for the flu shot! Scott got sick on Sunday night, complaining of headaches, joint-aches, and tightness in his chest. The fever soon followed along with a terrible cough. Scott NEVER gets sick, so the fact that he stayed home Tuesday and Wednesday from School and lied around the house for several days means that he must have felt really terrible. He went back to Bible class last night because he needed to teach and he's back at school today, mostly recovered.

Emma was the next casualty. She started complaining on Tuesday that she was hot, then cold all day. Yesterday she started a fever and the hideous coughing. She doesn't seem to feel as bad as Scott, so I'm hoping she is on the mend.

So now I'm wondering who's next? I have been in the house for 4 days straight trying to take care of everyone and I'm starting to go a little stir-crazy! It was nice that I didn't have to teach on Wednesday because my school is off for Winter Break, but this hasn't been much of a vacation! Our homeschool group's Valentine's Party is tomorrow and I am really hoping that everyone is healthy enough to go. After buying and helping address 220 valentines for my 4 kids, we'd better get some use out of them!!!

Holiday Chaos

The kids and I finished decorating the tree today. We all had such a great time listening to holiday music and talking about where all of our ornaments came from. We still have a lot of other decorations to get out, but we're making progress.

Life is so hectic these days, but I am looking forward to some calmer days ahead. Wednesday is my last day of teaching until January! Yea!!! Tomorrow is our last day of PE, too. So next week can be filled with lots of fun things like wrapping presents and baking cookies. Everything is so much fun now that all of my kids are old enough to participate without destroying things!

Yesterday we went out to lunch with the Halls and Becky gave me my birthday present. I couldn't figure out why she would want to give it to me so early until I saw it. It was an Edward stocking! I love it, of course!!!

Then last night we went to the Gentry's for dinner and had a really, really nice time. It's rare for us to find time to relax and just talk with friends and I really enjoyed getting to know them better.

Saturday the ladies from Galena had our annual ladies' luncheon and Secret Pal revealing (thank you Denise!). I had a great time and feel so blessed to have so many godly women in my life. They truly are my family and I don't know what I would do without them.

I am just feeling so blessed and happy today. Praise the Lord for all His goodness!

You ought to find a way to post pictures of the Edward stocking. I am curious. :)

My Twins Turn 4!

Evan and Erin had their 4th birthday yesterday. We had a party that I thought would be small. Ha! I just let them invite one friend each (Trey and Alyssa). But of course then we had to invite our families. And this of course includes the Halls and the McKinneys. So by the time I was finished inviting, we had 35 people over for lunch yesterday!!! But, other than being a little crowded, we all had a great time. Especially the twins. Evan got trains and Erin got Mermaids and Princesses, so they were elated.

This was a big milestone for all of us. Evan and Erin both think that they magically became "big kids" yesterday. And Scott and I have been waiting for this birthday since they were a few months old. On a particularly exhausting Sunday morning I asked a friend of ours who had older twin boys when life would get easier. I expected her to say maybe 6 months or when they turn 1. Instead she very seriously said when they turn 4!!! At the time we doubted that we would ever make it to 4, but here we are! And life has gotten gradually easier. I can't really say how much easier because much of the last 4 years is a blur, but we definitely feel like semi-normal people again. And, as long as I don't think about the toothpaste disaster of 2 hours ago, I can look back and be so extremely grateful for my double blessing from the Lord.

So, a day of milestones, friends, and family! It was definitely a very Happy Birthday for all of us!

They have really grown in the past few months. They became big kidds when they moved into the big kid class. :)

Evan has lost his baby face in the time we've been gone. Crazy that they are four.

What big little ones you have now!! I am glad they had a great birthday. Kelsey remembered and thought of them on their day. We'll send their gifts back with Ruth.
