Take that, Zelda!

My son has always liked the Zelda games. He got a new one from his aunt for his birthday last week. Well, it includes a part where you have to "play" a flute. Robert has been very frustrated with this part of the game. At one point two days ago, he said he was going to quit because although he played it perfectly, the game wouldn't accept his attempts. He went online to find out that he wasn't the only one frustrated with this aspect of the game. Since he was giving up, I offered to give it the Mom try. I did a practice round and played horribly. When the actual time came, I gave it a shot playing a little off. Guess what? It accepted my very imperfect tune. Poor Robert. He was ready to scream.

This morning a flute playing part came up again. He's tried all morning. Finally he handed it over, and once again Mom has triumphed over Zelda on her first attempt. I sounded awful compared to him, but it didn't matter to the game.

There is a definite flaw in the game! I'm just glad my imprecise playing makes me still feel needed!

The dumming down of our society. If it only let folks succeed that were good at it, all the rest of the people would feel bad about themselves.

Bye Facebook.

After lots of thought I've decided to deactivate my Facebook account. I spend way too much time on that account, so I decided to just let it go. I'll still be on here and hope to keep in touch with most of my friends here on Pleonast.

I will miss Scrabble.
  • textilet
Oh, no! I will miss scrabble, too!

Interesting

Well it is to me. I got on pleonast this morning after leaving my computer on overnight. I was on the "friends online" page. Well, when I checked it, it said, "None of your friends are currently visible." That can be taken several ways.

Dear Pleonast,

How do you clean an iron that has scorched clothing on it? Hypothetically of course. (wink)
  • 2nd_fiddler
Hypothetically, this might be what you could try: Heat equal parts vinegar and salt in a small pan. Rub solution on the cooled iron surface to remove dark or burned stains. Cleans up a treat. Got that off the internet...I've tried the vinegar part before, but not the salt/vinegar combination. In theory, good luck.

I may wish that we had shot it, if we have any more expensive repairs after this one. Hoping this will get us down the road a couple of years so that we will not need a van anymore. *fingers crossed* figured this is still cheaper than buying a new car... or someone else's used car with who knows what problems... so now we have our used car with who knows what else to go wrong. Hmmm... writing that out shows how stupid we may have been....

The boys have donned

swimming attire and are out in the storm to check on the creek. I may have to join them. Oh, and our roof is leaking as is our garage.....

We no longer have grass in the front yard...it has washed away. I think our little creek is as high as I have ever seen it. We had waterfalls on either side of the house!

  • varsonmom
Alex did the same thing in our creek, we've never seen it get up so high. It washed away a table and chairs we had down there, I was afraid it might wash Alex away too. Sorry about the leaks, on the bright side- no school again tomorrow- woo hoo!
