Used Car shopping

I am the grunt. I get to find the cars and do the initial look over. I may be getting better at this. It's kind of scary...lots of sharks in the water!

We just went on a used car hunt and ended up with a new one. Fortunately (with a big "F"!), Gene has a nephew who is the new-car manager with Ford and he found us a new one for the monthly price range we told him we could afford. The dealer in town didn't want to give us much for our old car that had 99,400 miles, but G's nephew gave us top dollar. It was worth driving to Nacogdoches, TX for.

I dreaded the hunt; it makes you grunt. Hold your ground, and don't back down! (Oh, dear, that was cheesy...)

I guess you've already researched the make and model? That seems like the hard part. When Michael and Kent were looking, they were able to find a car with low mileage that had been kept and maintained by a meticulous older man. Except that a rodent had built a nest in the engine, it was very clean and so far, so good. They found it on Craigslist.

The sharks were circling, but we managed to give them the slip. Will have to try again later. The joys of car shopping.

Six Flags

That is where the guys are. Robert took the day off to go with friends to Six Flags today. I feel officially old because I have no desire to go. I hope the have fun and that the lines are short!

Graduation Day!

I would like to say that we are in a flurry of activity, but actually all is quiet. The boys went off to see Kung Fu Panda with friends and Danny is at work. I am at home in the calm before the storm. I wonder if I am forgetting something. The ceremony isn't until 8 pm so by the time we get out, it will be too late to celebrate. I guess we will do that tomorrow!

Big changes are brewing! It's kind of exciting!

New Years Resolutions

Anybody willing to confess? Ha! I'm making some but I am afraid of failure. Tell you what....I'll confess if they work out.

So many to pick from.....
Lots of room for improvement!
----------

After writing this last night, I thought of a hymn we don't sing very often. It always makes me think.

More holiness give me, more strivings within.
More patience in suffering, more sorrow for sin.
More faith in my Savior, more sense of His care.
More joy in His service, more purpose in prayer.

More gratitude give me, more trust in the Lord.
More zeal for His glory, more hope in His Word.
More tears for His sorrows, more pain at His grief.
More meekness in trial, more praise for relief.

More purity give me, more strength to o’ercome,
More freedom from earth-stains, more longings for home.
More fit for the kingdom, more useful I’d be,
More blessèd and holy, more, Savior, like Thee.

by Philip B. Bliss

I will confess that my resolutions originally were the usual ones, but this song came to mind this morning.

Resolutions? Haven't made one. I have gone gluten-free but that's not a resolution. It's something I'm actually doing.
