Another past-due update

Hello, all! It's been a while, so I wanted to update you on a few things.

We are still in California for the next 3.5 months, after which (it looks like) we will be moving to Birmingham, Alabama for Jeremy to start his first official job as a licensed Clinical Psychologist! Yay! This time has been long awaited, and we are very blessed to be experiencing it shortly, God willing. We look forward to being much closer to family once again, although our hearts will be sad to leave our spiritual family out here. They've been absolutely wonderful to us, and are such an encouragement to us. As some of you may know, Jeremy's Aunt Karen and Uncle Steve Dewhirst live right outside of Birmingham, as well as their daughter, Katie, and Katie's daughter, Emma. Lord willing, I will begin homeschooling Emma and Caleb together come this fall. I'm very excited about it, and I think we will have some wonderful times together! :) Before we leave Cali, though, we still have many wonderful plans to fulfill: a week-long camping trip to Yosemite, getting our money's worth out of our Disneyland passes, many trips to different beaches in the area, taking Caleb to play in the tide pools, a trip to Balboa Island, dinner on the Queen Mary, and much more! :)

I am expecting (again), but this time, the baby seems strong and healthy! Praise God! I'm 13 weeks, and still sick as a dog, so this is a very good sign! :) Caleb and I just got back from a 3-week visit to Waycross with my family, who helped take care of Caleb and me during some of my yucky pregnancy sickness. I was hoping to be over it by the time I flew home, but unfortunately, I still missed assembly this morning due to the same old stuff. So far, just one trip to the ER for dehydration (just like it was with Caleb ;) ), and I've only lost 10 pounds, as opposed to the 15 I lost with Caleb, haha. Just praying for this to pass soon, but thankful for it at the same time! :)

Caleb turned 5 in January, and is reading so well!! I began him on a reading program called "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons," but stopped about halfway through the book when I began being so sick. However, that hasn't stopped him from continuing to learn! He's able to read books and words that I never dreamed he'd be able to read without finishing the program. :) He is very much looking forward to having a little sister, although he says a brother would be, "Eh, ok, I guess." Regardless, he says he wants a brother AND a sister (although he'd prefer the latter first) anyway, and has been praying for both for a long time now. After going through the first trimester of a healthy pregnancy again, however, I'm thinking we might adopt the third. :) We've always wanted to adopt, anyway. Caleb is very much enjoying Legos these days. Although he still enjoys Thomas the Tank Engine, we've finally progressed from the obsessive train stage to an obsessive building stage. :) He's really good at it, and can build things that the box says are designed for 7 to 12 year-olds. He's memorized the first 5 of the Beautitudes, and I hope to continue the rest with him soon, although I've been slowing down lately...

I am currently reading "It's Just Been Glorious" by Dale Smelser. He wrote it about his loving wife, Marlene Smelser. She was a dedicated Christian woman who died of cancer at the young age of 65. One of our preachers out here, Darryl Smelser had it sent to me at my parent's house. He is Marlene's youngest son, and thought I might have some extra reading time since I've been sick. So far, it's been very inspiring. It encourages me to be a more dedicated Christian, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. :)

Anyway, that's about all for now! Hope you all are doing well! :) God bless!

Hey Andra! So sorry you are having to go through this with this baby. I have been there before and I know just how tough this can be on everyone in the family. I always try to focus on how much of a blessing it is to be growing a new little one but when you are throwing up several times a day, day after day after day, it's not always so easy to see the blessing in it. You guys can do it and hopefully it won't last the entire time. The longest I was ever sick was with Maleia and I was sick for about 28 weeks and that was a tough one. I will be praying for you and thinking of you. You can do this!! Love to you guys!!

No problem! Hyperemsis is a rough road huh! Often people will think that I'm the one that is suffering the most and for the most part that is true. But I always think about Frederic and how he's having to be everything for everyone and that's not easy at all. With this pregnancy he had 3 gospel meetings and 2 of those were back to back and it was during the worst of it. That was rough. My mom was able to come and help and if she didn't I'm not sure what we would have done. That was during the times that if I moved I threw up so I couldn't even give myself a bath or wash my face or brush my teeth...nothing. It was horrible. I always worry about how it effects the kids to see me throw up like that and they will mimic me but I think all in all they are ok!

Those er visits are rough and the medication is rough too. But it helps and sometimes you just have to go in and get the ivs. But like you know, in the end when you are holding the new baby it's all worth it. Crazy how those little babies almost kill their mommies!! We are tough girls ya know!

I'm sorry you've been so sick! That is the worst!! I am so happy for you though :) I'd been wondering how far along you were. Yay for getting to move back near your family! I know the feeling of missing family when you're sick/pregnant. Take care, get some rest if you can!

Heather, YOU are tough! I can't believe you did this four times! I'm a wimp compared to you. The good news is I'm doing much better, and although I still lay around most of the day, at least I'm not vomiting nearly as much as I was. I'm counting my blessings! Also, we got to hear the baby's heartbeat this week. A strong 154 beats per minute! Praise God!

I love the holidays. :)

Jeremy is officially off work for a four-day weekend to celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas with us. :) It's going to be a great four days! Tomorrow (well, later today), Lord willing, we will do a little last-minute shopping, Skype with my side of the family (I'll get to see my nieces and nephew!), do a little grocery shopping at my favorite neighborhood Farmers Market (Sprouts), decorate some sugar cookies, start on the gingerbread house, play a game or two, watch a Christmas movie, and eat leftover Chicken Tortilla Soup. :) Friday, we will do some of the same, Skype with Jer's side of the family (first time Skyping with Caleb's great-grandparents on that side) and then celebrate the evening with some wonderful new friends, the Valderramas and the Aguinagas. Then, on Christmas Day, we will go over to one of the elder's houses and celebrate with his family and some other new friends of ours. We will eat, sing, and play games. As much as we miss our family, we are so thankful to share this special time with some others of God's family. God has blessed us so richly! Praise to Him!!

Loving our new home in Cypress, CA

I'm such a slacker for never posting. I'm better with facebook. I'll be surprised if anyone still reads my blog, haha. Anywhooo, we are loving our time in north Orange County already! We are already so close to much of our church family. They are absolutely wonderful. We are members at Studebaker Road church of Christ and have been welcomed with open arms. It is a bilingual congregation, so we have been trying to brush up on our Spanish. :) We are going to sit in on the Spanish sermon very soon, and see how much we can understand. :)

Anyway, life is good. We miss our families back home, but it feels so much like home here because of the wonderful people, that it makes it much easier to deal with. We have been invited by one of the elders and his wife to come to their Thanksgiving celebration with them, and also another member for an EARLY Thanksgiving dinner! Woo hoo, we get TWO turkeys this year! Haha! We are excited to get closer to the people we already love so dearly. We just started a Monday night Bible study for the young adults (sound familiar, folks from Gainesville??) and are studying James. I'm very excited about it!

Please keep my family and I in your prayers, as we just lost another baby. I was about 12 weeks along this time. Pray hard for another baby for us!! Caleb has been so patient for a brother and sister! (Notice I said, "brother AND sister," not, "brother OR sister." Every time I ask God for a brother OR sister for him, he corrects me, haha!) He will be FIVE in January!! I just can't believe how fast he's growing! I ran across some baby pics of his as I was unpacking, of course, and I just can't believe he's almost 5! My sweet boy...

I am enjoying staying home with Caleb. God has blessed us so much for me to be able to do so. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to teach him how to read. I just found my book today, as I was going thru stuff to put in storage. :) I'm very excited about that! He's been ready for a while. :)

Jeremy's mom sent us a webcam in the mail today so we can Skype with the fam. If anyone else Skypes, let us know. It will be fun! :)

Anyway, that's about it for the update. If you're reading this, thanks for not giving up on me. ;)

I'm excited to live near you! :D Glad to hear things are going well with the church there. We got to meet Mr. Scott when we visited in May--such a nice man! Please tell him we said, "Hello!"

So glad ya'll are enjoying your new home and have found a good group to grow closer to God with! So sorry for your losses. :) I can't imagine. Never went through that. Hugs for you, Jeremy & sweet Caleb. Take care!

Hi Andra! It's good to hear from you :) I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your babies. We are expecting our 1st in February and are very excited, your son is adorable! I can't believe that you're getting to live in CA! I hope you enjoy it. When you have a weekend free, you should definitely go up to Northern California. I'm from up there, it's beautiful! Be sure to tour Yosemite National Park, Monterey, San Francisco, etc! P.S. Have you been tested for the antibody that can cause miscarriages? I'm sure you're way ahead of me-- but it was just a thought. My lupus dr. wants me to be checked for that soon. Prayers coming your way :) love ya

Thanks, everyone! :) Sarah, I can't wait until you all move here! We've got to get our kids together! :) Julie, they do have Chic-Fil-A's here, and they serve sweet tea- yay! All of you, thanks for still reading my blog! :) I'll try to post more frequently now that I have internet at home. :) Love you all!

In case you haven't heard yet...

We are moving to Los Angeles! Jeremy got an internship OOOOOOOOover there, and we will be moving around the 1st of September. It's a LONG way to move, but it will probably be only for a year, so it will be quite an adventure! We will miss our family and friends, but some of you better come visit us while we are there- what a perfect excuse to fly to CA! :) Anyway...keep us in your prayers. Figuring out the logistics of it all is a bit stressful, but we've got time, so hopefully we will be fully prepared when the time comes. Hey, old friends from FC, remind me who all of you are still in that area?? :) I'm so good about keeping up with old friends, haha.

Anyway...not a dull moment around here lately. I'm kinda starting to miss dull moments, actually... :) Why does it seem like everything on my "To Do" list always takes WAAAY longer than I expect it to?

I better see you before you move!:)

Well, I've gotta take back that last statement, I guess...

We lost the baby just after Thanksgiving. We're doing fine now, and things are pretty much back to normal. Just thought I needed to let you all know since I posted the pregnancy news on here. Thanks for all the well-wishes, and please continue to keep us in your prayers. Love you all! Hope everyone is having a happy Christmastime with their friends and families!
