Hello I love you
FALL BREAK 06!
October 19-29
Friday night\Saturday: Milan with roomie Sarah Gadsby
Sat.eve: train to Paris, met nice man Lorenzo who showed me pics of his kids on his phone, and told me some sweet snowboarding locations...arr. in Paris around 11, went to Moulin Rouge!
Sunday: got Katie from station 6:30 am, hung out in Paris all day, fell in love, English service at 5 pm.
Monday am: Train to Brussels(Belgium) played some frisbee, rain, slipped all over the place in my sandals while searching for some boots, ate a delicious belgian waffle! :)
Mon pm: Brugge(Belgium) cutest little town! Slipped and slid around s'more, shared a 4 euro kilo of crepe-ish pancakes with katie, decided to stay another day!
Tuesday: Explored Brugge, got some BOOTS at a 2nd hand store for 33 euro. Super deal considering anything else costs around 100 euro! PM: night train to Berlin
Wednesday: Berlin(Germany) Lost 5 euro in the stinkin phone card machine, took 5 hour walking tour of the city and learned all about the history! Berlin wall, Hitler's bunker, the balcony Michael Jackson hung his baby off, etc. Bought Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen, ate a scrumptrulescent sausage and roll.
**** while i was enjoying my sausage, a homeless lady asked if she could have some money. I asked if she was hungry, I'd give her some food. She said she had just eaten one of those sausages, was thirsty, and asked if she could have my water bottle. So I gave it to her.
PM: after some struddel, night train to Amsterdam
Thursday: Wandered around Amsterdam(Netherlands), toured Anne Frank's house, took a pic in an oversized wooden shoe, went to a free\weird photo museum called FOAM, took a nap in our awesome christian youth hostel, went to the bible study and game night! I met some really cool people here. And yes, I saw the RLD. It was beyond gross...it was just really really sad.
Friday: Frankfurt(Germany), bought a sweet skirt for one euro....that's about it. We got the heck outta dodge and hung out in Mainz. Katie left on a train to spend the night with her fam, I explored Mainz a little longer, then trained to Tubingen to stay with Marlene, a girl who studied in the states for a year in 2000.
Saturday: Toured the little town of Tubingen, I LOVED this place! It was very midieval with hilly cobblestone streets and a fortress at the top. Bought some authentic natural flavored gummi bears. On the train to meet Katie in Heidelberg, I opened a water bottle Marlene gave me that was sparkly. I was not aware of this fact, however, and totally drenched myself and the guy sleeping next to me. He didn't move a muscle. I guess he was just embarassed for me.
*Met up with Katie around 2 in Heidelberg, checked out the gorgeous, really old castle, played some frisbee, and searched for the Pepperdine residence to find my friend. No luck.
PM: Caught a train around 7:30 pm to Basel, Switzerland to stay with a family I know.
Sunday: Ate breakfast with the entire church, worshipped my heart out (in German), and went all over east and west Basel with Ben (the Swiss guy who lived at my house last year) and his brother Christian..when they have a fair, they split it up to be all over town! We tried lots of yummy swiss goodies, then saw the movie Step Up that night. They have a 15 min intermission!
Monday: Trained all day through the amazing countryside of Switzerland, then through northern Italy, back home to Florence. STRAIGHT to class from the train station!
I have to book it to class, so I'll refine it and maybe add some funny stories later. :) Have a grand day!
