Another sunny day in Californ-I-A

I got a newd job. haha. Not really, just a new job. I'll be hostessing at Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen! You can actually check it out online. You know you want to. It's a 10 minute walk from my house, and I'll be learning lots of Spanish. Speaking of Spanish, http://youtube.com/watch?v=a189xAYBRv8

Well, the little Fashion Park family is finally complete. Yes, Jess, Christen, Bethany, Daley and I live under one roof, and we all have SUV's. Which does not make for the greatest success in finding a parking spot in the cramped little neighborhood, but it DOES make us way sporty. And cool. (hey, we need all the help we can get.) We laugh so much, it's ridickerous.

Last night we played volleyball at the park around the corner from our casa, and it ruled. Christen/Jess v. Beth, Steph, n Kyle (Horst). Besides the glass shards and splinters and the cement just inches underneath the thin layer of sand, it made for an awesome game. I guess that just makes us way hard core. Or just stupid. My favorite part was definitely when Jess fell backwards mid-story yelling "AMAZING!!!" as she tried to hit the ball.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our church family! I've never felt God's love pour so freely from a group of people than I do at the Canyon Church in Anaheim Hills.

Bethany and Kyle made banana pumpkin chocolate chip blueberry etc. pancakes last night. And Christen made unleavened bread. Before that and volleyball we got Pomegranate Blueberry lattes from The Coffee Bean. They were delicious. Christen got a job at Starbucks in the downtown circle, so now we get a free pound of coffee every week! YIPPEE!

I got up at 5 am and went surfing with my friend Brian Washburn. I got back home around 8:00 and tried to take a little nap 'fore work at 10, but my nose kept gushing salt water so I couldn't really sleep (that means I got rocked). But it did feel incredible to be all warm and snuggly in a sweatshirt and down comforter after being chilly. My left toe finally came back from the dead.

I got to visit my Nana and Papa and special Aunt Karen Friday and Saturday. They live near Lake Arrowhead, only about an hour and a half away! I had SO much fun spending time alone with them, which was something I had never done. My Papa (dad's dad) is my favorite EVER. He makes a joke about everything, and is always laughing and teasing me. I really hope my kids get to know him!

FANKSGIVING IS COMING!!! oh, delight. Tell me one thing you're thankful for! :) Mine is.....music!

I don't have anything funny or witty to say really, no silly jokes or rad song lyrics or a cool link to a crazy website, just some plain 'ol updatage goin on right herr.

I moved in to a NEW HOUSE!!!

In the city of Orange. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1900 sq feet, 2 trees in front (1 of which will soon have a club house), a porch, a really big kitchen sink, a farplace, and 2 little fenced-in patios, one of which will be a perfect place for afternoon tea. 9 miles from school.

I (will soon) have 4 roommates!!!

1. Daley "hottie" Hilburn...already have her
2. Jessica "go getter" Gill...(she'll be here in November, she'll be here in November...alright, scratch my previous comment about song lyrics.)
3. Christen "smokin" Smith...Dos semanas!
4. Bethany "encredible" Elam...Next week!

I'm gradumicating next August!
...One more year...I see the light...

I work in an office!
The Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education, that is.
I'm not bilingual, but I get my own desk.
And I shred things.

Ironically, guess who I just happened to talk to on the phone last night? Kurt Dehut! :P He mentioned he met you. I had no idea he had moved up there already.

More ironically, guess who was just asked to work up there for the next 6mos? :) A fellow we've got onsite at Cisco's Campus in San Jose just put in his two weeks. I am awaiting word as we speak (er type) :) as to whether I need to get on a plane tomorrow or not! At a minimum I can fly up there for a few days each week and stay living here. If it's fun I'll probably just move :) hehe. Do you happen to know of any good churches? I heard that Miller Ave migth be "ok" ;)

earthshake!!!

Yesterday morning in church there was an earthquake. It shook the pew! I hadn't felt one in a long time so it was kinda exciting.

This morning I woke up to another! It felt a little harder this time, and it kinda kept coming, so I laid there in the shaking bed thinking of what I would do if it got bigger. Luckily it just stopped.

2 earthquakes in 46 hours!

Here's the freaky part: just 3 days ago, a friend told me that a few years before 9/11 they heard that the 3 major disasters most likely to occur in the United States would be:
1. A terrorist attack on New York
2. A hurricane in New Orleans
3. A major earthquake in Southern California.

....grrreat.

when youre straddling the san andreas fault i wouldnt exactly call an earthquake exciting. its like being hog-tied to some railroad tracks and being excited when you hear the whistle of a train.

beach grenades

Last week, within a 24 hour period, an important aspect of my life completely changed. This semester I had planned on living with the incredible Daley Hilburn in the dorms of Pacific Christian College across the street from Cal State Fullerton. When she went to move in early, she discovered that the space we would have to live in was about the same as that of which would be provided for us in an orphanage. Disappointed and dismayed, she ventured to the neighboring apartment complexes to check out the availablity. Luckily, she found a great deal. She called me to break the news and present a solution to the unfortunate situation, and I bought it (the idea, not the apartment). The catch: The apartment is not available until October 13th. We were 2 months without a place to live besides on top of a $100 deposit.....until she called up Donna Prince (Mandy and Greg's madre). God, being the ridiculously AMAZING God He is, worked everything out perfectly. Of course.
Here's the story, morning glory: Mr.Prince's father recently passed away, and his wife could use a few roommates. So....on Thursday I moved into my abode for the next 2 months...a double wide mobile home. So Mama Jean's givin both of us our own room with a queen-size bed, a bathroom to share, ever-so-graciously lettin us pay less than half the rent we'll be shellin' out in October, and within 48 hours, she and Greg have already made scrumptious peach cobbler and THE BEST peanut butter cookies my taste buds have come in contact with. We even have our own little living room and wireless internet. Oh and how could I forget...the pool and hot tub? yeah baby.

Life
is
good.

So now we are on the lookout for garage sale treasures, yard sale deals, and thrift store bargains with which we plan to fill our future apartment! Mama Jean said we can have any company we want, so come on over!

I worked 8 hours yesterday for my newd job at the Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education at CSUF:)

Beach story from today:
Daley and I packed a cooler and set off for Huntington Beach this morning. We were set on gettin a good run in, then just relaxin on the beach. So we start off, dodging sand castles, little kids, and the waves washing up. We only go about 200 yards when we come to a section of the beach where there's a slight ledge, and as we run across the angled sand, from the top of the ledge where all the surfer dudes from the surf competition are sitting, I see a small green 4-square ball fly through the air and nail Day right in the foot. We laughed *haha* and just kept goin. But wait! It's not over! A big red 4-square ball comes next heading right for me. Then after that a football! All being chucked right at us like grenades from someone we can't see. So I'm tryin to catch the red one bouncin all over, Daley goes for the football, all the surfer dudes are laughing at us, and of course, the wave comes and washes us right up. Our shoes, socks, and shorts are drenched. They laughed, we laughed, and we went *sqsh*sqsh*sqsh*sqsh* the rest of the run.

I will leave you with an intersting quote recently heard by ME...thanks to my awesome cousin Leah...
"Live in New York and leave before you get to hard, live in California and leave before you get too soft."

I guess you have that effect on people. Footballs, four square balls, water balloons...haha...I miss you! I'm sorry that I just missed you in Cali. Apparently you had just left for a wedding or something like that when I was visiting. But I think youre amazing and I just wish that we could hang out and I could play with your hair (cause I haven't seen it since it was chopped off and I like playing with hair) You should move to NY with me and your Californian softness can combat with the NY hardness and I could be Florida passive. It's a date!

Rock on

...a song i like by david essex and remade by def leppard. It just really gits me good.

My plan for tomorrow is to wake up at 5:30 am, jump on a plane..literally I'm going to leap onto the aircraft..., sit in tejas for 3.5 hours, and then catch another flight...i'm actually going to snatch it right out of the sky.... to FL to arrive at 8:15.

After a great reunitation, and a hitchin, I'm off with Rosemary and her mama to drive North for a few states! Hopefully at or between either or both of these two places I'll see you.

yay! :)

word to the wise: If you see something at a thrift store that you're REALLY diggin, don't wait for the 50% off sale the next day. It'll be gone.

p.s. take your time
