The Book Lady

I have started a blog where I'll be reviewing children's books (and occasionally other genres). If you have a gmail account - you can follow me. If not you can just check back whenever you feel like it. I'll be posting a description and content that parents may be concerned about. If you want to pass on to others about this blog please do. I'll also take any requests that parents might have. I've read a TON of children's books, but if it's one I haven't read I'll most likely read it. I've posted already The Giver and Walk Two Moons. I think next will be the book Jacob Have I Loved or A Great and Terrible Beauty. Not sure yet but it will probably up within the next week. Thanks!

If I take the wings of the dawn

Where can I go from YOUR spirit?
Or where can I go from YOUR presence?
If I ascend to Heaven YOu are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, YOU are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
Even YOUR hand will lead me,
And YOUR right hand will lay hold of me.

Ps. 139:7-10

Right now I think that this is one of the most encouraging verses. I'm really not sure where I'm going to be headed in less than a year, but I know where ever I go HE will be with me.

I was looking today at Speech Pathology jobs posted for the Air Force and the Army. The Air Force is apparently short of Speech Pathologists apparently they had posting pretty much anywhere I could possibly want to go in the U.S. They even had posts in Italy and Japan. That sounds pretty exciting to me. I think I would go... it would be an adventure. But got to get past graduate school first...

I'm about the finish the DaVinci Code by Dan Brown. It's interesting, I disagree with alot that he says, but it is interesting to listen to a different view point. He's a good author too...

I'm headed to Amarillo next week. Should be an interesting trip

I really like the DaVinci Code. But I take it as fiction. It's a story not the truth.

A New Semester

Well I was completely lazy over Christmas break and I loved it. My family had a blast at Disney World and then when we got back I spent my time reading and catching up with friends; it was a much appreciated break.
This semester I moved into an apartment with my friend Kylie and it has been great so far! I have loved getting to cook my own food, yesterday morning I made banana bread and the whole apartment smelt sooo good.
I'm tutoring political science again this semester at the library. I find that I am pretty much 95% of the time tutoring girls. I can't figure out why. I guess typically most girls have no interest in politics, because when I bring up current issues I usually get a blank stare.
Also, I'm set to graduate in a year with my bachelor's and then it's off to graduate school. I can't figure out where I'd like to go. Any suggestions? I've been looking at Texas Tech, UNT, UT at Austin, UT at Dallas.

I would recommend Texas Tech, of course. There are a fine group of Christians there, too. I think you'd find it to be generally a conservative town with a hometown feel. Ryan is really looking forward to going in the Fall.

Wait, weren't you considering staying at SFA? Or is that for your bachelors? Maybe I'm just confused. We need to talk soon. :)

Counting Down the Days!

I'm so ready for Christmas!!!!!! Because as soon as school gets out I'm headed to Disney World! There are a lot of other things that I'm looking foward to this Christmas. First off getting to hang out Mallory and Christina again. I miss them both :( And we are having another youth lectureship at Reel Road after New Years (I'll send out messages about that when it gets closer to time). And I'm going to move into an apartment in the spring. I'm so excited about having my own place :)

My New favorite CD right now would have to be between Carrie Underwood's "Play On" and Owl City "Ocean Eyes"

Also on the book list right now, I've been reading:
Mary Stuart "The Crystal Cave" (Good if you are into Arthorian Legends)
Barbra Kingsolver "The Poisonwood Bible"

Guess that's all

Christmas at Disney sounds awesome! I hope you have a great time! We're going this summer. I can't wait! Have you finished "The Poisonwood Bible"? I had to make myself finish reading it. I didn't enjoy it at all. I like books I don't have to think about. :o)

^^^^That's one of my new favorite quotes

Well I'm back at school now. It's been great so far! My classes haven't been too hard which is nice (but then again it's only the 4th week of school). It's been really nice to be back among my christian friends at school. And I've really liked getting to know the new freshmen.

We just had a gospel meeting with Gary Sandusky at Stallings. I really enjoyed the meeting; I got alot out of it.

I got a job at school! I'm a political science tutor. I love it!

I went mudding for the first time a couple of nights ago. It was crazy!!!!! But I loved it!

Yeah I'm boring that's pretty much all that's going on in my life.

Peace Out
