Finally, after a week

My last Banquet Week as an FC student is officially over. It was fun and enjoyable as was the banquet. Monday was Aloha day and I finally got to wear my Hawaiian shirt I've been keeping in my drawer for two years now in hopes for a day like that. Tuesday I treated my baseball fanatic banquet date to a Devil Rays game which was lots of fun. Wednesday was Decades Day but my date was running for SBGA Prez so we opted to not dress up (Congrats to him for winning!!) That night he treated me to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and good conversation as always. Thursday he took me to see my favorite Disney movie The Lion King at the IMAX. Needless to say I was very very very excited!!! Friday was Play Day which was aggravating but oh well. I didn't have to turn my paper in in Western Civ. Friday was probably my best banquet to date and good times were had by all. Saturday we went to Disney which was wonderful as always. I met Tigger and got my picture with him!! I was very pumped about that. We encountered a very funny group of backwoods Alabama boys. I learned i can do a new impression and I think I saw Greg Ciampa laugh harder than ever before. And Perkins is a good place to wrap up the evening at and laugh at really crazy stuff. It was kinda sad not to spend the day with my friends that I've had my past two years but good times were still had.

It's been a crazy week and I could write a lot more but for your sake, I won't. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to write about as school wraps up. Until then, peace out

Relay for Life...

another huge success. We raised $2500 this year, up a thousand from last year which is really exciting. I didn't stay all night long but part that i was there for was off the heezy for the following reasons:

1) Blink 182's "What's my Age Again" played acoustic, very laugh inducing

2) Eric Olson showing up out of nowhere

3) He and I's plan to pull a Tim McGraw move on the horse cop and acting it out

4) Showing him my dancing moves using my arms and my legs, but NOT my hips

5) Singing bluegrass at the Circle K old country store with Coulter on mandolin and Eric on guitar and Eric and I's plan to play out of the book Coulter had that included gospel hymns

6) Our three song repetoire: In the Pines, ROCKY TOP!, and Coulter's famous Salty Dog

7) Inept people at Wendy's, what's new

8) Serious bonding time with my awesome banquet date Ryan Lanning

9) Denny for many reasons but for the most part, our dance party. I showed him a few things hahahaha

10) My twin and I trying cartwheels

11) Watching the more country folk of our group doing the electric slide with a bunch of Hispanic people

12) Hanging out with people I usually don't

13) Ending the night with a prayer while the surrounding sororities and frats did their thing...

14) Most of all, remember all those affected by cancer and remembering how much I miss my grandmother

I hope your night was as awesome as mine. Tomorrow will be even more. PSI BETA!!!

you know you have nothing to do when...

you spend your Monday night looking up cheesy pickup lines on the internet. Of course I can't access them all for Websense blocks many sites in this category. The most interesting reason has been "Tasteless." One can only imagine what's on that site...

In my search I stumbled across some Great Christian pickup lines. Enjoy some of my favorites:

1. The word says "Give drink to those who are thirsty, and feed the hungry"; how about dinner?

2. (For the ladies) Excuse me, I believe one of your ribs belongs to me.

3. You know they say that you have never really dated, until you have dated a Christian. (AMEN!)

And my personal fave that epitimizes FC:
"What are your plans for tonight? Feel like a bible study?"

The highlight of the day

was definitely Learning and the Developing Child when Dr. Dickey used the phrase "a stinkin hard teacher." You just don't expect him to use the word "stinkin." It was also humorous to see him try to spit out his slightly fastpaced chess rhyme. I felt the urge after it was over to yell "Bombs over Baghdad!" But only Megan could be deservant of such an event.

Tomorrow I have an interview for a job. I'm pretty excited but pretty nervous at the same time. If I get this job, I will finally feel like everything is falling into place with my decision to stay here. I really need it to work about, but it's sort of a long shot.

This has been a really reflective week for me. The reality of the little bit of school that is left is starting to sink in. One thing I have realized is the saying you don't know what you've got till it's gone is so so true. There was someone in my life I really really took forgranted and now this person plays only a minor role in my life and it makes my heart ache. I've had to accept things will never be the same and that thought breaks me. But such is life...

Oh, one last thing. I can't handle people getting married. I received my first wedding invitation this week that was addressed only to me. Meaghan and Adam will be married before we know it and I have a new couple to add to that list. Fallon and Bradford. I remember the beginning of their relationship. She really wanted this one boy to ask her to banquet and he really wanted to ask this one girl. A few of us played middle man and boom, they started dating. Now, exactly one year later, they are engaged. That's five marriages/engagements and we haven't even graduated yet. Since Adam/Meaghan and Fallon/Brad both started dating at banquet. maybe that's why guys freak out about going with someone they actually like...I wish I could understand. Maybe one day I will

i know you will do great at your interview tomorrow. you are awesome! i dont know why guys freak out. probably because they are dumb, i say that because i know i am dumb a lot of times and being dumb often is the best answer.

now logically, boys aren't thinking..b/c that's 2 of the entire class who's going to marry their banquet date...so either A)your date will be gone after banquet..so don't freak out or smaller chance of B)you find the one you want to marry..seems like a win-win to me

oh, i'm definitely not worrying about my banquet situation. just commenting on the mindsets of guys. that's all

um, staci, i hate to say this, but you'll have to get used to your friends all getting married. and then get used to them all having babies. even ones your age or only like a year older. yeah. it can be tough :)

  • marla
but, to encourage you, it gets easier as you get more used to it. because you do, eventually, kind of get used to it :) and then you're happy for your friends and you just wait patiently for God to take care of your life, in whatever way He chooses :)

referring to what you said i would love to talk about it

what a coincidence

Whoever said "Coincidence is God choosing to remain anonymous" certainly has it right on. He always seems to know exactly what I need to jolt me back in my place. He's truly omniscient, omnipresent, all the omni's. I had a really frustrating day over some really silly things and unfortunately, i think others could see my frustration as well. Which i hate I let it show. Anyway, some girls and I read every night out of a daily devotional that focuses on women in the Bible. It's always an ironic devo because each entry usually applies directly to someone's life. Well, tonight, it was my turn. It was an entry on Leah that focused on turning life's disappointments and discouragements into praise for God. After reading it, I felt silly for letting such dumb things (that will ultimately change as things change around here as rapidly as the weather) get me down. Leah thought having children would help her receive the love she desired from Jacob but it did not. Finally, after her fourth child, she realized happiness came from praising God. So basically, my point in saying all this was we may have a lot of clouds in our sky but there will always be a rainbow hidden in there somewhere. We may not always see it right off, but God does and we have to make ourselves right with Him. When we do, the clouds will part and all we'll be able to see are rainbows. Also applicable is not letting those clouds color our view and actions towards others. Pessimism and crankiness are not attractive qualities. Ok, so there's my personal/revelation for the week. peace out
