I am from. . .
Sandlyn was given an assignment in English class to write a short descriptive narrative about herself using the prompt "I am from. . ." This is what she wrote.
I AM FROM. . .
I am from hairbrushes, from eyeliner and mascara.
I am from the fourth brown house on the right, the dog barking when she looks out the window.
I am from gardenia bushes in the backyard, the tall bushes growing up to the window whose long limbs are still there.
I am from Christmas morning and Dad cooking breakfast on Saturday mornings,
From Barry and Sarah
I am from "would you get out of the bathroom" and "I love you more"
And "I don't want to watch TLC!!!"
I am from "You have cancer" and "you look like a cue ball cause you have no hair"
And Ring around the Rosy.
I am from going to grandparents
I am from Nashville, Tennessee and Athens, Alabama
Dad's gravy and Momma's poppy seed chicken
From my granddad throwing a cherry bomb in someone's car.
Oh, my six foot granddad, my grandmother's earrings and charm bracelets
That each one has a story, they are in my heart and at my grandmother's house.
Just thought I'd share!

Our youngest, Gavin, had that assignment too. His is framed in his bedroom and I treasure it. :-)
