Resurrection

After more than a year and a half of lifelessness, I felt it was time. Yesterday I made a momentous decision and with loving hands, some new pull cord, a little WD40, and too-many-to-count attempts to start, I brought life back to my lawn mower. I then mowed down the unusual tares that were taking unfair advantage of my St. Augustine grass that has suffered through this most unusual winter. Quite satisfying!

Tell Wanda I am sorry. I do not listen to the messages, that is Sterlings dept. Things have been so crazy around here that I have let alot of things slide. I remember now Allison mentioning that she had called but it just went right out of my mind. I will try to get in touch with her tonight.

Stayin' warm?? With my new gloves and boots our mid teens temps aren't feeling too bad this evening. Supposed to take a big dip down this weekend now that the snow is over. That's the deal, it has to warm up enough to snow, but then, BRRRRR

Thank you! I had found the church where Tom preaches on line and called and talked to him today. After giving his number to Koko, I emailed him at the address the website provided, but I'll go ahead and email him at the one you gave me, too. Thanks so much!

Tomorrow's the Day

Today was my last official day at work for 2009 as I will be burning vacation for the remainder of the year. Consequently, I will dashing out early to do my Xmas shopping. Wanda handles the bulk of "our shopping" because, let's face it, she is better equipped having tons more of the shopping gene than I do. I get to buy her gifts from her 2-page, small font, Gifts for all Occasions list. We both have these lists on the desktop of our computers to make sure if one of us gets the bug to buy the other one something that we have a good chance of buying them something they will actually want. Score one for me as this was my idea.

Merry Ho Ho to you all.
  • deblue
You score two points for that flash of brilliance.

It is funny you should say that. Jill does not like it that we are naming the baby Jenna Joayn. She always says "we can't call her that. That's my gramma's name." So Jill, on her own decided to that she would call her Jo-Jo. I kinda think it's cute.

How Do I Create a Web Site for our Congregation?

How do I learn about how to create and manage a web site? I looked at on-line courses at the local community college and they were $3,000. I thought about just buying the software and reading the book but that sounds too mechanized and not terribly creative. I understand about registering a domain name and paying a service to host the site, but how do you take the first step toward making it happen?

Also, what features do you find most useful on church web sites?

HELP!!!

Jeff Clark, one of our deacons, has done ours. If you like - and no one on here gives you any tips - I can put you in touch with him.

I still have the files from an old website I did for the church in Clute a long time ago. It was just kind of a shell model, but it had the basic info.

What to include: Address, phone, email, meeting announcements, meeting days & times, what to expect, invitation to visitors, and date the site was last updated. Many churches post the names of the elders and regular preacher(s). On your additional pages, you might have directions to the building, sermon outlines or downloadable content, some historical information on the local group, and some helpful links. Let me know if you need anything.

Found your page from Josh and figured I'd comment.
Don't spend money on software. Find a website you like, right click and select "view source", then check out google for some HTML tutorials and mix the two. If not, you should spend the money to hire someone to do the work.

Yeah, definitely don't pay money for building the site.

is the best site web design site that I've found. It's free, too.
Anything I can help with is free also.
