June Bible Study and Gospel Singing
WHERE: Home of Bryan and Emily Gary
WHEN: Saturday, June 13 at 6:00PM
TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION:
Before his death, Jesus gave us the Lord’s Supper as a memorial to his life (I Cor. 11:23-35). We can read in the scriptures that the purpose of the church gathering together on the first day of the week is to partake of this blessed feast (Acts 20:7, I Cor. 11:18-20).
The churches of Christ observe this command every Sunday, and many will also dedicate time to partake of it during the evening worship service. However, there has been much debate on whether or not a congregation offers the Lord’s Supper in the evening is lawful. For many, this decision regarding evening communion is based on customs and traditions, and not necessarily on scriptural authority.
For our June bible study, let us discuss the authority the church has to serve the Lord’s Supper as part of its evening worship service. Remember, that we need to have book, chapter, and verse for everything that we do (Col. 3:17).
We will be grilling in the backyard following the study.
Hot dogs, fixins, and soft drinks will be provided.
If you would like to bring chips, snacks, or desserts, please RSVP.
