Happy September...just a little late!

I was just noticing that it had been since July that I had last posted (surprise, surprise). I liked seeing the kite flying picture, but since there is news to share, I suppose I will have to, finally, post a new blog.

Cody and I are happy to announce that we are expecting again!!! I think Evan will make a great big brother...once he gets used to the idea of not being the only one. (I'm interested to see how that turns out!) We got an absolutely adorable shirt for Evan (made by Micah) and told our families by presenting Evan in his "BIG BRO" shirt! (I will get a picture posted as soon as I can)

I am a little over 13 weeks along but am still feeling the affects of "morning" sickness. Not too bad, but not too fun either! We are planning on finding out the gender, but it will be a couple months yet. I'm kinda hoping it will be a boy so that Evan can have a brother close to his age. Anna keeps telling me she thinks its a girl, so that would be nice, too! :)

We also are thrilled to find a little house that will suit our needs perfectly. It has a little over half an acre and a 2 car garage--two things that were very appealing to us! We can't wait to actually have a yard that we can play in! We hope and pray that everything will go thru and we will be moved out of our apt. in a little over a month. Hopefully in time to put up lights for the holidays!

Don't know what Evan will be for Halloween this year. Cody likes the idea of Superman, so now I'm on a mission to figure out an outfit. I thought it would be fun to take him Trick-or-Treating in the new neighborhood to kinda check out the different people-even though we won't be living there yet! Thats one way to meet your neighbors! We'll see.

That is great news!! So happy to hear about your growing family. :) Marcie is just over a month ahead of you. We still don't know if Nicolai will get a brother or sister. This new
little one wasn't ready to reveal their gender at the last ultrasound. Maybe next time. Hope things go smoothly getting into your new house!

That's what Evan and I did on Wednesday after our picnic. It must've been about 15-20 years since the last time I flew a kite! I attached the handle to his belt loop and ran back to snap this picture from my cell phone! Right after it took, he managed to get it un-hooked and I had to run after it before it went in the Tennessee River! Oh, fun! :D

We hired a 2 great babysitters (Cody's folks) last night and Cody and I went out on a date. YAY! If you've never been to a Red Robin burger place, you should so go. They have all kinds of delicious burgers and bottomless steak fries. Plus, they gave me a free burger (thanks to the free birthday website Roseanna hooked us up with) and a free ice cream sundae, too! Mmmm! So nice to spend time together...but it was good to get back home and see little Evan when we walked in the door!

Hey Lydia. I am 23 weeks along now. So only one more week and she really will be viable out in the real world : ) I am taking it very easy. Trying not to go stir crazy. Thank you so much for the prayers they are appreciated and much needed. I really think that everything is going to go smoothly but it's still just the chance of something happening that we didn't plan for. Hope all is well with you and your family.

My b-day is July 19th. I didn't realize that the free stuff was good for more then one day. That is really nice. I feel okay. It really depends on what time/day it is. When I get really hungry or tired that is when I feel the worse. Thanks for asking.

Well, what I made was based on this recipe, although I changed it up a little. I left out the rum and I substituted jalapenos for the habaneros since I had jalapenos growing and to scale down the spiciness. It still had a nice heat to it, though. Instead of scallions in the marinade I just added chives and I only used lime juice not the zest .. just because I didn't have any zest ... and apple cider vinegar instead of white. I only followed their measurements loosely ... it seemed to make a lot of marinade so I just kind of eyeballed it to make less.

Last week we were at a wedding, and Sarah was talking to the kids about finding a good person to marry. She asked Joe (5 years old, right) if he'd ever met a girl who he thought would be good to marry. He said he couldn't think of anyone. Then he said, "actually, there is one person..." and described in detail a tall girl with brown hair that we knew in Knoxville ... he was talking about you.

When was the last time you stayed up past 3 am????

Well, I bet when you did it involved movies, popcorn, candy, ghost stories and/or singing around a bonfire, spending time laughing and swaping stories with your girlfriends, or something exptremely fun! I doubt it was laying lamanite flooring in your kitchen! Thats what Cody and I did. And anyone who knows me, knows that come around 9:30 or 10 I start getting woozy and could basically fall asleep sitting up (yeah, I'm a real party animal!). I don't know how I stayed conscious, but I did...and it turned out awesome! It was the easy peel-off-the-sticker-backing-and-place-it-on-the-floor kind, but it still took like 5 hours. We had to work around the small "laundry room", pull out the washer and dryer (and you can imagine how gross it was behind there since we hadn't moved them in 2.5 yrs!), and pull out the fridge and do behind that nook. A lot of cutting and measuring, but in the reverse order, of course. It looks like a new kitchen. The old stuff was, literally from the 80's and even after I scrubbed it on my hands and knees for 30 min., it still looked filthy. Cody and I had a good time though, it was our first "home" project together. Fun times to remember. I love being in the kitchen and knowing that we laid this down and that we are the only ones to have stood on it!

Cody and I picked blackberries at Mom and Dad's this past weekend. This is Evan's reaction to tasting his 1st one:

So nice to spend the weekend at home and to see everyone at West Knox again! The weekends always fly by so fast. Celebrating Father's Day with my Dad and Cody was fun, too! Evan and I are blessed with great Dads!

I was introduced (not in actual live person, but via the world wide web) to Jim Gaffigan a few months ago by my Bro-in-Law and if you have never heard of him, I highly suggest you scoot on over to YouTube and check him out. He is hilarious and pretty clean (for a comedian). I'd recommend: "Camping", "Waffle House", **"Hot Pockets"**, "Cake", "Bowling", "Bacon". You will be laughing out-loud, but trying to do it softly so you won't miss his next line!
