I have wanted to update my page for a while now. There is a lot that I would like to talk about, but I am not having the easiest time putting the thoughts together. So, for now, I’ll give you a few things to talk with me about...
1).
Improv Everywhere - I heard about this while listening to NPR. My Favorites are
this one and
this one. It's great stuff.
2). National Public Radio - I am listening to it more and more. I got hooked by listening to "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" For some reason I have forever thought of NPR as a horrible liberal radio station. I really enjoy it though. I was surprised to find that more of my friends listen to their programs than I had realized.
3). Dr. Laura - I have listened to Dr. Laura's radio show off and on for about 15 years. I think I was about 15 or 16 years old when I started listening. Truth be told, I have learned some great lessons over the years by listening to her insight. Although sometimes I think she is awesome, more and more I think she is a lunatic. I will tell you that many years ago I called her show with a problem and was shocked by how quickly she was able to get to the point of the issue. She was very nice to me and I enjoyed the call. That is, until she came to her solution to my problem. It was a shockingly vague and a somewhat immoral answer to my question. I think I stumped her... HA! Take that! The full story of the call won't be discussed on this website, but if we are close friends, feel free to ask me in person. Anyway... what are your thoughts on this entertainment personality? After listening to her for so many years, I would love to hear someone else's thoughts.
4). Facebook Reconnections - Ok, so here's the deal. For those of you who don't know me very well, I am a creature of habit that does not deal well with new people, old people I haven't seen in awhile, etc. I hate to say that because I value friendships more than just about anything else. So, I have recently made a ton of connections with former friends, schoolmates, girlfriends etc. on facebook. These connections have really made me look back on my life. Some of the conversations have reminded me of how much I fought to be a Christian in high school. I had forgotten how tough it was. Most of my family members were not Christians, and 99% of my peers were not either. I use Christian in the most watered down since of the word, meaning that they didn't have any moral backing in their lives. I suddenly, and without notice, moved four hours away from these people at the end of my junior year. Fast-forward to today, and almost all of my connections are with Christians. It's an extremely different life. I am happy to make these reconnections, but part of me has no clue how to interact with them anymore. Their language hasn't changed much, but their morals have. It's kind of strange. The strangest part is talking to them about old times and listening to them refer to me as "The Scaredy Cat" who wouldn't try this or that, and then listening to them talk about rehab and the struggles of trying to live a life without drugs and alcohol. I could have so easily been born in their circumstances. POINT IS... I don’t know the point. It's fun to reconnect, but it really gets me off track.
5). Mom - Mom's company did end up closing its doors. I was extremely worried for a while about how it would all pan out. She ended up starting school last week and I cannot tell you how proud I am of her. Sometimes the worst situations are the best springboards.
So that's it for now. I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer, if they had one. Everyone needs to hurry up and get their traveling over with because I am tired of not seeing you people.
