New Year Baby

Frank had a good time with the brethren at Southside church (in Silsbee) celebrating New Year's Eve. . .

It's Finally Official, We've Moved.......and have INTERNET!!

We are in the new home in Lumberton. I am still unpacking numerous boxes, but am glad to be down to one house to look after. The kids are having a little trouble adjusting, but we haven't chosen a church home yet. We are trying to be very deliberate in our decision. I think that will help when we decide and that is settled. We miss all our friends and everyone at Eastside sooo much!!! I heard they had a good meeting last week. Send me a message if you want our new address. I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend!

Miss you. Whichever congregation you choose will be blessed by your presence. Eventually I will get you some pictures of your party. Waiting on a new computer. This one really frustrates me with its lack of speed and freezing up.

That is a funny story. Eric bid on a computer one time, on a whim, and actually won it. He had to turn right back around and sell it. It was pretty funny.

Hi Jessica, How's everything? Tell Calivin Happy Birthday for us.

Not sure what to do.......

First of all, I heard Chloe singing "Give me a servant, just like the sun. Cuz I want a servant, please give me one." I guess we should go over those words!

Question: What should I do with lying at age three? It doesn't happen often, but when it does, I put her in timeout for three minutes, make her expain to me why she was in trouble (afterwards), apologize to me and then ask God for forgiveness. Today I began to think. Since she hasn't been been baptized, do I need to skip the asking God for forgiveness or is it good practice for the future? They always say you're tougher on your first kid. I just want to do what is right but not be overzealous. Any comments welcome.

I don't have experience with the lying thing but your first paragraph made me laugh :)

I'm still trying to figure out this parenting thing, too, and I've only got five years left with my oldest - SCARY! When my kids get mad at each other or whatever may be the problem and they don't make the right decision, I will sometimes ask them, "Is that what God wants you to do?"

I am a firm believer in still asking God for forgiveness. It sets a precident for later, and teaches her that God isn't happy with certain actions. She has to know what is pleasing to God and not pleasing to God.

Hmmm ... I always just beat them.
    Jk. :)
Sounds like you've got a good correction plan.

That is so funny! Alexis went around singing, "Down in my heart...OUCH!" the first day. So, we have been practicing. She is really into the singing for the first time.

We do pretty much the same thing. If they have lied several times we start spanking if they keep doing. We explain that God doesn't want us to lie etc. We tell our kids to ask forgiveness. I think it is a good practice to start.

You are doing great. Keep it up. You are just zealous enough to be doing great parenting.

Thanks, Jessica. I don't know what they will call me yet---it won't matter to me at all!! We are just so excited. The first sentence above--so cute---I love the things little kids say. AND I agree--you are doing a great job--teaching them to please God and knowing the difference between what is right and wrong.

Baytown Nature Center

I have been meaning to post these.

There is a free "Tike Hike" every Wednesday at 10 am during the school year at the Baytown Nature Center. During the summer they have activities inside the Wetlands Center.
