Update is finally here!

It has been such a long time since I have been on here I wouldn't know where to start. So much has happened in our lives in the past month or so. My husband passed out and hit the back of his head the 28th of May. He had bleeding and had to be admitted to the hospital. He was in the hospital for a couple of days and when he came home we had to go back to the ER on Sunday morning only to find out he had broken ribs. Tuesday he had a pacemaker put in. He is now recovering from that as well as the broken ribs. Hopefully, when we go back to the doctor on Thursday he will be cleared to drive. He hasn't driven in a month except to take me to the ER last Thursday night, the 18th. I slipped and fell on the porcelene tile in our kitchen. I cut the inside of my mouth pretty bad and it took 4 stitches and the doctor had to dermabond the outside of my lip. For our anniversary we had doctors appointments and physical therapy. We did go out to dinner that Tuesday night. Our children decided we needed a break with everything that had been going on the weekend before so they took us out to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes. We enjoyed spending time with the family. We were given some flowers and nice cards. Also, Michele bought a delicious chocolate cake that we had to eat. That meant so much to me and I hope my husband enjoyed it, too. I'm not sure how much he enjoyed the flowers but getting them meant a lot to me.

I hope we have a little less excitement over the next month. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Hopefully the most exciting thing next month will be our trip to Williamsburg. Glad Dad was able to go to church Wednesday.

Well, you two have had a time of it!! Hope things go better. Thanks for the comment. We have had a warm welcome from the congregation here. I appreciate that. There are people I've known forever here, people we know from other places, like camp, and lots of people to meet. A neat mix.

Sure hope things have changed for the better now. You both have been in my prayers. We truly enjoyed having the kids here last week -they are SO precious. Everyone left this morning, so it's REALLY quiet around here now! Take care and have a good week!

I hope and pray your carpal tunnel surgery goes well. We're doing fine, although Gary is pretty swamped at work right now - a BIG deadline is approaching at the end of this month. Take Care!

Latest Update!

I have now been in physical therapy for about 4 weeks. I am seeing progress but still have a long way to go. I probably have another three months of therapy. I am still under some restrictions from the doctor so it will probably take a while to really get my arm moving normally. I still have to go to a hair stylist every week to get it done because I can't get my hand up to the top of my head without a struggle. I am going on vacation in about two weeks so I don't know what I'm going to do then. I may have to have my husband help me. He has had to help me do so many things. I am thankful for all his help.

I had to take one of my cats to the vet last Saturday. He had a bad bladder infection. They really don't know why. Anyway, if I had waited until Monday he may have been dead. They had to put a catheter in him and one of those shades on his head all weekend. I didn't know that until I picked him up Monday afternoon. I felt so sorry for him. He came home Monday evening and is doing fine now. He is on an antibiotic for over another week. I hope the infection won't come back when he gets off the antibiotic. He is such a loving cat with me. I missed him bad when he was gone. My other cat is not as loving and is afraid of people. She decided the house was her territory while he was gone and was really hissing and growling at him when he came home. I think they are beginning to get use to each other again so I guess everything will be ok. I can't take him being gone much. I hope this isn't the beginning of bladder infections.

Our gospel meeting starts Sunday with Norman Fultz. He is staying at our house so I guess we'll be busy. I'm getting my house cleaned up before he and his wife come. Looking forward to this next week.

I hope everyone has a nice week and weekend.

Oh, I hope you got your house in order before the preacher came.
I also told you it will take Misty a while to get used to Frisky again.

Update on Shoulder

Today I began Physical Therapy for my left shoulder. I can only do miminal exercises here in the beginning. I am still in pain and know I will be for a while with Physical Therapy. Until the shoulder heals more they will be very cautious with my exercises. I had a lot of hand manipulation on my shoulder today. The Therapist did most of the work and I just let him take over. I have one other therapy appointment this week and then for the next two weeks I have three appointments a week. At the moment I am actually typing with both hands but don't do that very much. I'm looking forward to making progress but will be using the sling a lot for a while. It will be as much a precaution to keep people from putting their hands on my shoulder as anything.

Not much else going on. Go back to see the doctor in three weeks. I hope everyone has a good week.

(((hug))) Notice I didn't put my arm around your shoulder. :)

Secretary

My secretary is typing for me since I don't have the use of two hands. I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow because my left hand and wrist are swollen. The doctor just wants to make sure that everything is okay. The surgery went well. I was in a twilight state during the surgery which Cheryl described below. The only thing I heard was when the doctor pounded the stem into the bone in my arm. I seem to be recovering well. I am in a good bit of pain but the ice pack water flow system (cold water circulates through a special pad) and the pain meds are helping. I don't know when I will report again because I don't know when my secretary will be back. I hope everyone has a good week!

Surgery

Well, this morning my mom had surgery on her left shoulder. She was given a nerve block and a tranquilizer before the surgery. She was actually aware of what was going on. She was so thrilled when she felt the doctor inserting the rod into her bone because she knew she was getting a total replacement. She was talking and doing well this afternoon after her surgery. The nurses told her that as soon as the nerve block was wearing off, she was to let them know so that they could administer pain meds before the pain got to a 10. I believe she is supposed to go home on Saturday. Well, I don't know anymore to put on here. Thank you for your prayers. We really appreciate them!
