It's the most wonderful time of the year

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I spend the actual Turkey day at my Grandma's. YUM! I swear I gained a pound - which is great since I'm always trying to gain weight! =) Then I went to BG for a day. Bought some Christmas presents for Baby Luke at One Stone Biblical Resources. I was doing good until Greg showed me a 50% off table. Um...yeah. LOL Spent way more than I had planned, but got some good deals and a couple books for some people at SOBO. Then I had a second Thanksgiving dinner at my friend Matt's. His mom told him he could invite friends. The food was soooooo good! Not like my grandma's, but good all the same. His family loves games, so we played Spoons and Speed. Since Speed is a 2 player game, 4 people lined up across from each other and there were 4 decks of cards between us. All 4 teams would start at the same time, so it was LOUD but fun. =)

The past couple of weeks have been BUSY and it doesn't look to slow down anytime soon. I'm on two new medications. We'll see how this goes.

I'm super excited, because this is the first time in 6 years I can properly enjoy the holidays. I have time to bake, watch Christmas shows, spend time with friends and family, etc. I'm having a Christmas party this Saturday and I'm SO EXCITED. I dragged out all my decorations today and I'd forgotten how much I have. haha Most them are 2nd hand, but who cares? Not me. I am having appetizers and desserts. And, I'm hosting a White Elephant exchange with a twist - you're supposed to bring something you already own (new or used) that you don't want or need. I did this with some friends last year and it was hilarious, so I'm hoping my friends in Indy will like this kind of gift exchange. It's something fun to do and doesn't cost anything extra.

WKU was not invited to a bowl game, and I'm not happy about it. They really deserved it. They were 2nd in the Sun Belt conference. It really would have helped recruiting for next year.

I saw Luke today! He is getting so big. He can crawl and pull himself up on the sofa. He has "big boy" toys now. Today, he was fascinated with the garland on the tree. I think because it shimmers in the light when he turns it. He can give you a "high five" too. I LOVE my little man! =D

Time for bed. Have a great week! =)

A high five??? I didn't know that. I hadn't heard that about WKU.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I doubt I'll be on again this week, so Happy Thanksgiving Pleo friends! =)

WKU has continued to do remarkably well this football season and is bowl game eligible. BOWL. GAME. ELIGIBLE. !!!!!!! This is huge. I am so excited. =)

Um.....work work work. Not much else happening. Still enjoying no homework. This past weekend was busy for me. Friday night was a chili cookout with some families from church. That was fun. Saturday night I went to Katie's house and 6 of us hung out (most of our friends have moved, so group gathering seem so small now). We played Apples to Apples - love that game. Sunday night at church we had a singing with the theme "Living a Life of Thanksgiving."

I am getting ready to go home for a 5 day weekend. Super stoked about so much time seeing family and friends. I'll see some of you this at Hebron.

Have a great week with your family and don't forget to thank God for all our many blessings!

This and That

My dr appts went well last week. I am being weaned off one of the medications, so that is good news. Hopefully I won't have to go back on it for a while.

WKU won last week at homecoming! We broke an 18 home game losing streak and it was just perfect!!! =) We also won yesterday, so now we're 4-4. Hooray! We play LSU in two weeks, where we will get slaughtered, but that's ok. I think they are currently ranked #1 overall in college football.

Not much going on otherwise, just a lot of work and work. I'm not doing anything for Halloween this year. Tomorrow I pick up my SPEA certificate. Pretty excited about that.

I can't believe October is already OVER! Hope the month was a good one for you - it was for me!

I saw where WKU won yesterday in OT! Aren't you going to the Halloween party tonight?

    yes!
    we were planking!
we also did the chair thing.
4 of us sat on chairs that were sitting in a circle.
we laid back and put our heads on each other's knees.
our feet were on the floor.
then someone took the chairs away.
i think we lasted about 10 seconds.
i hope you can go the next time.
    it's a real "sisters" trip!

Appointments

I have been having problems with my mouth and also having a bad reaction to one of my medications, so I have a dentist appt tomorrow and a drs appt in Louisville Thursday and Friday to hopefully resolve these issues and get some relief. Prayers would be appreciated!

Last weekend my mom came to visit. She totally beat me at mini-golf and the arcade games. It was embarrassing. haha This GlowGolf was much cooler than the one I went to in Opry Mills about 3 years ago. I wish Louisville had a downtown as awesome as Indianapolis.

WKU Homecoming is this weekend. They managed to WIN their last two football games! We are now tied with UK and UL in football this year. hahahahahahaha Love it! Hopefully I will be able to see them win Saturday....something I have not witnessed for over 3 years now. *sigh* Of course, any weekend spent in BG is a great one! Looking forward to seeing my Eastside peeps! =)

  • kamille
I sure hope you (we) get some answers from the docs. I wonder if Opry Mills is still going to open next spring?

Hope you can get some relief.
About the downtown comparison--them's fightin' words! ;-)

I was just kidding about the downtowns. Haven't spent a lot of time there, but I'm sure there is more to do there than here.

our downtown might not be so great, but wow, our everywhere else is wonderful!

@derbydi: That is an understatement. Now, I don't like Indy but it does have a lot.

@monk: you'll have to tell me where every else is. LOL I like it here but we don't have much like other places do.

We. Are. IU!!

This morning, I woke up early, made pumpkin cookies and set off for Bloomington with my friend Matt for the IU vs. Illinois game. SUCH great weather for tailgating and football! And his family knows how to tailgate. They fit a table, a portable grill, two coolers, two bags of food and other eating necessities, ladderball and three chairs in the trunk. I was super impressed. lol It was a fun experience. Matt and I saw a friend from our program who had moved back to Bloomington. The game was good at the beginning, but went downhill quickly. Oh well, it was still fun and I'd never been to IU proper.

Friends and family have already started asking when I'm going to start looking for jobs again in Louisville. Because this is a public blog and I currently have a job, I would NOT want to discuss anything job wise unless I definitely have a new one and am moving. However, I am happy in Indy. I have a life here. I like the church I attend and the people there. My best friends and baby Luke lives here. I love my apartment. There is so much to do and see, even after living here for two years. Although I'm still getting used to working full-time, I love what I do. Moving back to Louisville would be different than when I last lived there full time. Are there reasons I would like to move back? Of course. But do I cry myself to sleep at night because I'm still here? Absolutely not. When the time is right for me to move back, then I will. For now, Indy is my home. :)

  • kamille
I guess moving back would be different because this time you'd have your own apartment??

Well that, but most all of my friends have graduated and work full-time jobs, a few are married, a few have moved, etc.
