We had fun in Florida! David and Gina just moved there. Paul and I and my parents and Jessica flew in for a weekend. It was nice to be with everyone!

I'm sitting on the couch with my leg propped up watching ellen, and I decided now is as good a time as any to update my page. On Saturday, I was rushing around, getting ready for my first party as a Tastefully Simple consultant. The phone rang and as I stepped on the tile, my shoe turned to the side and I stepped down on the side of my foot. The answering machine picked up as I lay on the floor and felt something sharp poking the skin out on the side of my right foot. I knew then it was probably broken (so stupid!), but I had a visitation to go to at the funeral home for Paul's great aunt. So, I finished getting ready for my party, drove (stick shift with an ice pack on my foot) to the funereal home, limped in and met some of the family. Then I drove home and had my party- with a huge swollen foot. When the last people left two hours later, I drove to the hospital clinic and had my foot checked out. The doctor said, "Well, I saw you walk in here, so that's a good sign- it's probably not broken." He started feeling around and talking about elevating it so the swelling would go down and I just started crying. I had not cried all day and I thought I was finally going to get some relief and this doctor was telling me to merely elevate my foot! He decided to take some x-rays. I heard the nurse in the hallway say that maybe it was a hairline fracture. When the x-rays were ready, the doctor came back in and said I had fractured my 5th metatarsal and would need to see an orthopedic on Monday. He said, "You drove here yourself? Wow, I think a guy would have been complaining more." So, here I am- with a blue cast up to my knee. I should be healed just in time to start teaching in August. And I wasn't even jumping off of a building like Bryan. :)

Do you have snow days where you live? O.k., so most of you are not concerned about whether the kids get out of school or not, but as a teacher, I love snow days as much as the kids! This year, we haven't had much snow in TN. It finally snowed last Saturday and it was a soft, pretty snow. But it melted the next day, so no snow day. I told my class about Tucson having snow- (Jessica, you should put your snowmen picture on your site- it's great!) We only have two weeks until spring break! I'm going to AZ to visit for a few days. And the rest of the time, I hope to relax and read some good books. Oh, and Paul and I are going to a Harry Connick, Jr. concert. Despite my excitement about not going to school, I really do like teaching- really! Well, happy snow days everyone. :)

I was in a leadership program this year and at our last monthly meeting, we were told to "write down 10 words that were important to us." Those were the only directions. So, after writing words like God, family, faith, love...I was running out of ideas towards the end of my list. So, I started to write things I like- such as dogs and raindrops. The speaker then said he would read our lists to the group so we could guess who wrote what and learn what's important to different people. As it turns out, I was the only person who wrote "raindrops" and the group thought this was very amusing. They ribbed me for not listing "money" or some of the other "important" words most of them wrote. I think it shows I'm an original thinker! - and being from AZ, I know how important rain is and what can happen if you don't have it! :) And so it is...in one group, I'm now known as Raindrops.
Is Paul serious about you guys coming up here? That would really make my summer!
