In our ladies Bible class we are studing about being homemakers. Tomorrow we are all sharing helpful household hints for cleaning, organizing or saving money. So what do you do to make things go smoother around the home? Please share, I need all the help I can get!

My tips were: 1. leave cleaning supplies in the shower so you can clean it while you are in there 2. have a basket in a closet to stash junk/clutter in before someone comes over 3. keep a box in the laudry room or garage to put things in you want to donate or put in a yard sale.

I echo "Flylady", been a huge help here. A load of laundry a day from start to finish helps me make sure my laundry is getting put away and not piling up. Making menus- although I severely lack in this area. Would love to hear the tips you gain from this class.

In the kitchen - clean as you go - don't leave dishes to pile up while cooking; rinse and stack if necessary but avoid a sink full of dirty dishes/utensils.

my grandmother always teased that she would leave the vacuum out in the middle of the room that way if anyone dropped by she could claim she was just getting ready to clean!

I always worry about the kids thinking that I am avoiding them so we have a schedule or activities for them while I clean. Just knowing they are occupied while I am cleanign makes it go so much faster. I can't clean while the kids are at my feet.

sorry, I have no words of wisdom. I know keeping things clean always seems to be easier when everything has a place. we are still trying to find a place for everything and we moved in 15 months ago (or maybe a little more than that)

combining errands into one trip saves more money now with gas prices going up every day. keep in mind its not always best to go to another store to save 10 cents on something now.

Clean as you go. It is far easier to maintain than to start fresh every week (which can be overwhelming). Wash your dishes/kitchen as you cook, clean your sink as you brush your teeth, clean up the tub as you get out, do at least one load of laundry everyday, etc.... Teach your children to pick up their own toys before getting a new toy out as babies. Keep a list on the fridge for items to buy or things that need to get done.

We enjoyed a beautiful weekend, finally in the 60's. Won't be that nice this week but we tried to enjoy it while we had it and went to a nice park. We have had quite a bit of sickness going around the family since Micah has been born but hopefully we are over that now. My poor little baby was even hospitalized for a few days because of a high fever. So I am feeling very thankful for warmer weather, a healthy family and a sweet little baby who is finally learning that nighttime is for sleeping.

so glad Micah is doing better. We were at Jesse and April's, I guess it was the first night you took him to the hospital, but your mom called back before we left that night and said he would be ok. we are still hoping to make it up your way this year.

Hi Rachel, I'm Lauren Yontz. We went to school together, but didn't really know each other. I'm Lauren Harward now and I attend church with Carl and Renee Dann and they talk about you all the time! They were actually here today were telling me about when Renee was big and pregnant and y'all would watch old movies together and laugh and CRY and Carl would come home thinking somebody died ;) They are the funniest couple! Anyway, I stumbled across you on here and couldn't resist saying hello. You have a beautiful family! I'm sorry to hear little Micah was in the hospital, but I'm glad everyone's getting back to normal. Take care!

I know!!! I love those kids! Carson came and spent the night with me last Wed night and played with my kids all day Thurs. She got up with them so I could sleep in an extra hour and she fed them their breakfast and lunch and thanked ME the whole time because SHE was having so much fun! Bless her sweet heart! We might have to have "Nanny Carson" over a little more often ;)

Micah was born on 2/21 at 4:44pm.
He weighed 9lbs 4oz and was 20" long.
Mom is doing well and thankful for a very quick delivery. She was induced around 1:20pm with patocin (sp?), the doctor then broke her water around 2pm. Very soon after, those
nasty contractions came hard and fast with very little breaks in between and Rachel had to wait for the epidural over 45 minutes past her requesting since they had an emergency in the OR at the
hospital. OUCH! OUCH! After about 5-6 good pushes he was ready to come out, and he wasn't even waiting for the doctor, she barely had time to get suited up before he came out!

Micah is passing all of his tests thus far, eating and sleeping well. God has blessed us again.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for our family.

I had an ultrasound on my due date last week to see how big the baby is. He's already measuring to be 9lbs 6oz, so it looks like another big baby for me! I'm scheduled to be induced on Thursday which is what I was predicting would happen. We are all getting anxious to meet him.
Elijah was playing doctor this morning. He listened to baby's heartbeat and then took his scalpel and said he was getting baby brother out. I found that to be a little scary.

Okay, time for you all to make your prediction about when this baby will get here and how much you think he'll weigh. Elijah was 11 days late and had to be induced, just to let you know that I'm not one of those ladies who tend to be early. Elijah also weighed in at 9lbs 6oz. I'm hoping this one won't be as late or as big, but we'll see.

Regardless, it's SO close now -- exciting! Hope all goes well.

mom told me last night your mom might spend the night with her on the way up to be with you about a week before he is born...I didn't realize it's almost time! I'll guess the 15th (for some positive thinking) and 8 lbs 5 oz but I'll hope for Feb 13 and 7 lbs 5 oz for your sake :)

I'm not good at guessing! Just wanted to wish you luck and a smaller baby. You guys are going to be surprised I'm guessing? Maybe it will be a girl and smaller (and earlier since I think being late makes them bigger too). Although Lily was 2 pounds heavier than her brother. We'll blame that on the diabetes though. :)

2/19 8 lb 10 1/2 oz. Our little boy was also 11 days late and had to be induced, however we then ended up in c-section. Hope you go on time this time because, waiting sure is rough. I was once advised to not think of your due date until at least a week or two past what the doctor says so as to not get dissapointed when the due date comes and goes. If only it were that easy.

are you going to name him 'valentino' if he is born on the 14th? i'm gonna go for 10 lbs. since he ate through the holiday season. i read the other day that the largest recorded baby weight was 24 lbs(back in the 1800s before pain med....OUCH!) i'll be thinking about you in these next few days...can't wait to hear!

oh and having 3 kids is just physically trickier(how to wrangle all of them into the car, etc...), but oh so great. They are great kids and all so different and so far(fingers crossed) the boys are soooo sweet with their little sister.

Hang in there!! Maybe he'll be a full moon baby....and only half as late as Elijah, so I predict you will go into labor on Tuesday night. Got your bag packed? :)

Violet was 6 days late, Caleb was 3 days late and both were born during the waning almost new moon phase.
