The family just got back from a great trip to St. Louis and I'm now trying to get ready for the trip to Ohio to have Thanksgiving and Xmas with Clint's family. And by getting ready I guess I mean getting on pleonast and having a couple of extra kids at my house! Elijah was a little skeptical about the land of St. Louis (as we were approaching he asked if they worshipped idols in St. Louis), however he quickly fell in love with it and was a sad little boy when we left. I also loved not having to cook or clean for a week and having the luxury of eating out every meal! Clint was there to take a training course for Grainger so they paid for the hotel and food. Lots of fun was had with Deborah during the week too. Here are some highlights: Sunday: Yummy french place for brunch, yummy dinner with the cute newylweds, Sherri and Jarret, and a man hit Deborah's cute belly with the door (let's just say I don't think he'll make that mistake again) Monday: played in the pool, got stuck in traffic and couldn't make it to Sherri's for dinner, but then found a lot of new tops at JCPenny for $2! Tuesday: Elijah pulled the hotel fire alarm which mortified his mother, who hid in the room and tried to let Deborah take the blame for it, the night went better when we had dinner at the Macaroni Grill and the waiter treated us to 3 FREE and yummy desserts Wednesday: I about put Deborah into labor when we stopped to timidly take a picture of a giant bison right next to the car, we were trying to be quiet and not upset the beast but I had stopped on a steep, wet incline and my tires were spinning and very loud and we couldn't get going for a minute. Thursday: fun at the zoo and yummy dinner at a friends, Friday: pool and children's museum, Sat: Arch and home.
Some good friends of mine, Steve and Julie Monts are having triplets sometime in March or April. If anyone has any baby things they could give, loan or sell cheaply to them please let me know. I want to help them gather up as much stuff as possible to help them out as their hospital/doctor bills will be more than enough for them to handle! I'm sure you know how hard it can be for preachers w/ insurance and having to pay a lot out of pocket. They did not ask for me to do this but I did ask Julie if it would be okay to put a request out on Pleonast and she said it would. I know having one baby at a time is expensive so I can't imagine preparing for 3!
Our family made a bit of an impromptu trip to FL last week. My grandmother is not doing well and we felt it was important to go have some time with her. It was great to be with her again. She is truly the most exceptional woman I've ever known. To this day even though she can't get around and is often too weak to be able to talk, her main goal is still trying to teach others about Christ. She has almost round the clock caretakers and she is trying her best in whatever way she can to bring them to the truth. What an example!
It was great to be with other friends and family as well and Clint and I were even able to fit in seeing U2 in Tampa. The traffic was horrible, the heat was horrible, our seats were pretty bad, but it was still fun and it was great to be able to see them one more time, especially with some of my favorite people (My hubby, cousin Danny, and cousin David).
This was the longest road trip we've ever done (about 20hrs each way) but it went very well and the kids were fantastic. Of course since we've been home we've all been sick and trying to recover but I think we are all on the mend now. Well that's my update for now.
We have a friend that is going to be in Lexington for a while for work. Can you all suggest some good churches that I could recommend to him? Thanks for your help. He'll need people who are willing to give him a ride as well, since he is visiting from India and cannot drive here.
Well, Elijah is four today. He talked me into letting him turn four by promising that four yr olds can give bigger, better hugs and kisses, and remember their manners better. He ran downstairs this morning to get the scale (that's where I hid it when I was mad at what it kept telling me) and brought it upstairs so we could tell him how much he weighs now that he's four. Silly boy. I got his fish cake made, thanks to Beth walking me through it. Don't think it looks good enough to show anyone pictures of it but we're happy with it. Last night in Bible class I was teaching Elijah's class about the first 3 judges. I told them how Shamgar killed 600 men with an ox goad and Elijah thought that was pretty cool and he was going to do that. I said no we don't do things like that these days and he said "well if a stanger comes up and tries to get me in his car I'm going to get an ox goad and kill him!" You never know what they'll say. I look forward to many more funny comments and all the big hugs and kisses that are to come from my four year old. The E in Elijah definately stand for exuberant and expressive. That's how I'd describe him, for those that know him feel free to leave your own description.
