Daniel Home (for the day)

Went to pick my son up at the airport last night after Bible Class. It is SO good to see him. He's here for his audition for the MM Conducting position.

We drove over to SMU this morning and as we pulled into the main entrance area, the trees were covering the boulevard and the flowers were all in bloom (very picturesque), Daniel started getting this HUGE grin on his face and was getting very excited. When we pulled up to the music building, he took a big deep breath and let out a big nervous sigh. I patted him on the leg and told him that "he'd be great", and "just be Daniel".

I hope he does well. He's very hopeful about this opportunity. Please pray that he'll get the opportunity. That's it from here.

I know he will do GREAT! God blessed him with alot of talent and He will put him in the best place to use it.

I know you're glad to have him home even if it is only for a few days

Although I'm not sure if anyone will read this :) I think it is great you offered to go with Daniel to McAllen. They always have fun on their trek down to Florida. It makes for good bonding and makes the time pass more quickly.

I just thought you should know the reason I was lying on the floor when you came by the other night was that I was completely exhausted and could not move 3 feet to answer the door (especially since I thought it was Justin and Kristen coming by on their bikes) :)

Bound for Houston

Monday is the beginning of the Helicopter Associations annual show in Houston. Two of us will be attending. However, we're making a ride out of it. We'll be leaving on the Harley's around 7:00AM and taking our time through the two-lane roads of east Texas. It is supposed to be 70 to 75 degrees on Monday. We are hoping for a sunny blue sky and dry roads. Back home on Tuesday sometime.

In my best Sharon imitation..."Larry's kids are grown and you're just getting started. You have no business getting a motorcycle at this time in your life." Now in my own voice.

When I say to a friend, "See you later!", sometimes I mean "See you in thirty years when my kids are grown", and sometimes I mean "See you in five minutes." You, my brother, have a loophole. Swim through!

we're building a UAV and we have one horizontal tail and two vertical tails

the vertical tails are harder because the airfoil varies across the tail, but that's about it

we'll have to work together on designing the section where the tails connect to the booms and getting all the wiring correct

Craig and I both need choppers.

Our wives both disagree pretty heartily.

    We don't have motorcycles.

I've never even heard of gram-inches. I asked a fellow aero and he said to tell you that is a horrible unit and you shouldn't use it. I'm sure this helps you a lot.

well I tried googling it and nothing came up right away, but you can always try that and just keep refining the search

Horror of Horrors, Terrible of Terribles...

I believe that is how my son entitled his note about his dad joining Pleonast. There is certainly a part of wanting to see what's going on in my sons life, since he didn't call this weekend... :-) I'm probably not going to get on here an blog ad nauseam, but I might have something to contribute from time to time.

I will tell you all that Daniel's sister (Jenna) just sang in the Texas All-State Women's Choir this last weekend. Now I have supported my kids throughout the many years of choir performances...Some of you parents know what I mean when I say that we've "endured" some performances throughout the years. However, this weekend I had the privilege of hearing the finest choir I have ever heard. I sat in my seat (next to my beautiful wife) and melted, cried, held my breath...you name it. It took my breath away. God has TRULY blessed some folks with amazing vocal talents. Needless to say, we were very proud of her and her efforts to get to that level.

Even though Daniel is contemplating what he'll blog from now on, knowing that his dad is "listening in", I'll confess to you all that I think he's a very fine young man. I'll go one further and say that I miss him dearly and look forward to the time when he'll hopefully be able to come back to Texas. Hard to believe I have a child old enough to be graduating from college! Everyone send him a note and ask him where he is in the applying for grad school process.

Well, you know what happens with me. I take something I don't seriously think, and put it to music. The song from "Fiddler on the Roof" was too perfect to pass up.

I'm glad you're on here, though. Really...

What do you mean? I went to bed before 1:00. That's way earlier than the other nights this week. And I'm going to bed before one again tonight, because I had an extremely productive day today, and have nothing due tomorrow. Plenty of time to look at schools.
