Today I was driving to a fuel leak / vehicle accident when I heard the song "One Headlight", by the Wall Flowers. While I'm driving with my lights and siren on, that song just kind of hit me, and reminded me of Amanda. For a brief moment in time, I left this world and my thoughts on where I was responding to and who needed my help, and visited the world of memories, the one place I can visit Amanda.
The part of the song that hit me and reminded me of her was these lyrics.
I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn
The long broken arm of human law
Now it always seemed such a waste
She always had a pretty face
So I wondered how she hung around this place
She always had a pretty face, and a beautiful heart. The most Christian girl I ever could have met. I miss her so much. I don't know why she ever hung around this place, me. Lord knows she could have done a lot better than have me as a best friend. I know though, she is in Heaven, and now that I've been baptized, I'm ready to go anytime. I can't wait to meet Jesus and Amanda again.
These lyrics, they relate to me, how I feel. It's so amazing how someone can write a song and it totally relates to you.
The Lyrics to "One Headlight"

One Headlight
So long ago, I don't remember when
That's when they say I lost my only friend
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetery trees
I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn
The long broken arm of human law
Now it always seemed such a waste
She always had a pretty face
So I wondered how she hung around this place
Chorus:
Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight
She said it's cold
It feels like Independence Day
And I can't break away from this parade
But there's got to be an opening
Somewhere here in front of me
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
And I seen the sun up ahead
At the county line bridge
Sayin' all there's good and nothingness is dead
We'll run until she's out of breath
She ran until there's nothin' left
She hit the end-it's just her window ledge
(chorus)
Well this place is old
It feels just like a beat up truck
I turn the engine, but the engine doesn't turn
Well it smells of cheap wine & cigarettes
This place is always such a mess
Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn
I'm so alone, and I feel just like somebody else
Man, I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same
But somewhere here in between the city walls of dyin' dreams
I think her death it must be killin' me
(chorus)

Okay everyone, I have created me a new pleonast. So here it is. Nothing to be DAZZLED about, but it's here none the less.
Got baptized last night, that's a weight that's been lifted off my shoulders. God has placed that on my heart for a long time now. Now that it's done, I feel GREAT!!! I could go tackle the world! WOO HOO!!! My thanks to Ed, Sarah, and everyone at the church who's helped me along my spirtual walk. So I am a new man now, Heavenbound. It's a new start for me, and I plan on using my new start to better my spirutal life.
Tomorrow set your tv's on Channel 10 (NBC Knoxville) at 5 PM on Live@5. I'll be on there racing Engine 1 down Ober Gatlinburg. I'll be in the drivers seat, so look for me. We are wearing all of our turnout gear.
Well that's it for now. Everyone take care of yourselves and I'm sure I will talk to you all later.
