Gospel Meetings & Reunions
The gospel meeting is in full swing in Crestwood, KY. The church in Crestwood has eight members, six of whom are elderly. They are wonderful people and have welcomed the family and I with open arms. They have been greatly encouraged by the attendance: 47 - Monday, 57 - Tuesday. While it is certainly true that the success of a gospel meeting should not be measured by the attendance (I expressed that to the congregation on Sunday afternoon.) IT IS a wonderful encouragement. It is a simple way of reminding one another of our love and mutual concern. It saddens me that Christians do not attend gospel meetings as well as we once did. If we would go, we would be encouraged, n ot only by the preaching, but just by the time we get to spend with other Christians. As the commercial used to say, "Try it, you'll like it!"
On a personal note let me just say that I have thoroughly enjoyed being back in the Louisville area and seeing so many old friends at the meetings. I've already seen folks I knew I would see and quite a few that I forgot I knew! ;-) It is so encouraging to have you guys as my family! Aren't we so blessed to have been chosen by God, cleaned up by Jesus, and been made brothers and sisters with the common hope of eternity in heaven. And just think, SOMEDAY we will gather around God's throne NEVER to be separated again!!!
Oh, how I long for that day! (1 Corinthians 16:22)

I am always greatly encouraged when we visit meetings. I mean our preacher's my favorite, of course, but it's good to get some variety from time to time!
Take care :)
