Home From Chicago
Have you ever had one of those vacations were everything seemed to fall into place? Our trip to Chicago was like that. Not because everything went off without a hitch, but because we decided before we left that come what may, we were going to roll with it. Now, for the most part everything did go well, but when it didn't, we made the best of it. For instance, we travelled across town to go to Murphy's Red Hots for a Chicago dog, only to find they had closed early. So, we found a Chicago pizzeria that was wonderful. Kelsey called it our "happy accident." We even enjoyed standing in the freezing cold waiting for the bus!!
We had an absolutely awesome time. If you've ever talked yourself out of a trip to Chicago, let me encourage you to think about it again. There is SO much to do, and it's not nearly as scary as some might think. The museums are some of the best in the world. The city was clean and friendly (I must admit being pleasantly by that!). The restaurants were all good, see Kelsey's blog for a complete description. The architecture was so impressive, remember this was the home of Frank Lloyd Wright! I *guess* the shopping is great too. I must admit to being wowed by the Apple Store & the Garmin Store.
The trip wasn't cheap. We were able to do much because of the generosity of others, BUT I'd do it again on my own nickel in a heartbeat. Don't let money stop you! Yes, we must be good stewards, BUT you know what, when you spend money...it always grows back!
