Finally she updates!!!

Hey there! Wow, it's really been a long time since I got on here with any intent to post. I have either been super busy or just didn't feel like sitting down to write out more than a few lines about what I'm up to (thanks to facebook). Anyway, E is now 3 years old and she is playing the part very well. She has been testing us like crazy, which she never really did much before. It's a new chapter and quite frustrating so far but I'm hoping it passes quickly. We stay pretty consistent with her and I know she is just being a 3 year old. I threw her a good-sized Dora party for her birthday. I don't think I'll do that again. :P It was chaos and she was overwhelmed. She cried a few times during her party so all the stress I went through and inflicted on my husband, was all for naught. She said she still had fun though and she did love getting a lot of presents. *grin*

P is now 10 months old and as cute and smiley as ever. She will quickly learn that she can get away with a lot because of her cute smile. Maybe she already knows this because she does whip it out a lot. :D I can't believe she will be 1 next month. This past year has flown quickly!! She crawls REALLY fast and can go up the stairs by herself (we are always behind her unless she sneaks to the stairs without the gate up). I'm sure I'm going to gain a lot of gray hairs due to her and her daredevil ways. She hasn't tried standing or walking yet but she has stood on her own a handful of times without even realizing it. She has figured out climbing, however. Great.

I have recently taken on the role of historian for our family. My mom never did it although would like to and my siblings never seemed to get into it. I'm having a good time researching but it is time-consuming and I get a little obsessed and it's hard to put down. Makes for some late nights, which isn't good with a baby who likes to wake up early. I'm trying to work through each parent's side and then tackle my hubby's side. Oh, I'm also trying to get the "tree" together during the free 2 week trial I have from ancestry.com. Yikes!! I'm a cheapskate and am determined to not pay for it. Hehehe!!

Anyway, there's a bit of an update on us!! Hope you are all doing well!!

Yay for an update! I hear you on the stairs. Our last house had none, so I never worried with M, but... the new house... LOTS of stairs. I'm really nervous about them with E!

The ancestry thing sounds cool. One of these days I think I'd like to look into it. We have lots of weird ancestors... Casey Jones is my great-grandfather on my mom's side and Lola Montez ("what Lola wants, Lola gets") on my dad's side. No wonder I turned out the way I did. :P I've really gotten into scrapbooking and I think it'd be fun to combine the two.

Phoebe learned to climb before she learned to walk, too. It's a little disconcerting to walk into the kitchen and find your baby on the counter!

Good luck with your research. That sounds interesting!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone has a safe, happy holiday this year! We are busy and I'm a bit stressed getting everything done this year but having a 2 year old who is incredibly excited about Santa coming definitely makes it worth it. I am looking forward to seeing her face Christmas morning. Her big gift is a dollhouse and I am so excited about that. Kev and I got a TiVo and said that would be our present to each other. My mom wants ideas for something to get him but I can't even think of anything, isn't that horrible?! He is so hard to buy for though. He loves electronic stuff but if he wants something he buys it himself or it is just too expensive to get. I did have some ideas for him before we got the tivo but now I can't remember what they were! Grrr.... Oh well.

P is scooting around pretty quickly so I'm wondering if she'll even bother crawling but she's not even 7 months old yet so we'll see. She does get up on her hands and knees and rocks a LOT but no actual crawling yet. I thought I felt a tooth getting ready to pop through earlier today so I hope it shows itself very soon and maybe she'll sleep a little better. E is doing great and makes us laugh every day with funny things she has to say. I need to be better about remembering the things she says and write them down in her baby book because they are just priceless. :)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!!!

Oh boy, I am so far behind on here! Since I've been on facebook so much, I don't really get around to posting something bigger on here. FB serves me well with getting out a little blip with what I'm up to. Right now I have a toddler with a runny nose and a 5 month old who desperately wants to crawl. She constantly lies on the floor trying to push her belly up. She gets it up a little but but she won't be crawling for at least another few weeks. We didn't really need to child proof with E as she would listen to us when we told her to stay out of something. I have a feeling we aren't going to be so lucky this time around. I think P will be into just about everything as soon as she can.

My legs are still doing fine and I am off the blood thinners now. I am doing the baby aspirin thing. We don't have a lot going on other than life! Right now, it is enough. We're just trying to get through this nasty flu season without getting sick, especially with a little one not old enough to get a shot yet. We are blessed with good health and I am very thankful for that!

We had our ultrasound today, but we didn't find out on purpose. It was fun to see our little baby. So unreal that there are going to be five of them running around over here.

Knoxville is a fabulous place to live. I miss the church there and I miss going to Dollywood. And the mountains and the river. And it's always fun to live in a town with a college football team. Glad everything is going well for you guys!

It's been a long time!

Sorry for not posting on here for 2 months! I have gotten on here with hopes to post something but then I think about how nothing exciting had happened and it just seemed to me more effort to be witty and come up with something. Oh well! I tend to post on my facebook account much more because I can generally come up with a one or two-liner for my status but posting on here usually takes some effort from my brain and I sometimes can't spare any. Anyway, Penelope is now 3 months old and Eleanor is 2 1/2!! How did that happen? I can't believe she will be 3 in 6 months. She is such a wonderful kid to be around. She can light up a room wherever she is. Strangers tend to focus on Penelope first since she is a newborn but Eleanor generally grabs there attention and keeps it after that. Her newest thing is being a kitty cat. She is silly!

I just weighed and measured Penelope yesterday. I had to measure her 3 times to make sure I saw the number right. 25 inches!! No wonder the 3-6 month clothes aren't big on her!! She also weighs 13lbs 10 oz. She is basically close to the size Eleanor was at 5 months.

Looks like P will be a big girl. I know about wondering where the time went. Just enjoy.

Yay... a post! Psh, your posts are fine. I think most mommy's commiserate with the day-to-day goings on that other Mommy's have. And who can be witty with not enough sleep and kiddos to chase about?

I love big, chunky babies! Sounds like you've got some cute ones. :)

Getting used to this

So far, I'm liking the way 3.0 looks! Nice job Kennon! My mom went back home on Saturday and I was already missing her Sunday morning while trying to get everyone ready. My 13 year old niece is here now and helping out with Eleanor. I feel like I am neglecting Eleanor now that my mom is gone. My mom and Penelope had a special bond and she would smile and sleep and just be happy whenever my mom had her. I can't just hand her off anymore when I want to take a shower or do laundry or cook and she is a needy baby!! I bought her a little mirror for her pack n play and she actually stayed in there without screaming for 10-15 minutes! I guess vanity was the way to get to her!! ;) It's not working as well now though. I think the novelty wore off. *sigh* I guess I need to whip out my sling and just wear her around to get things done.

We are heading to Dollywood on Friday. It's not as humid right now and we wanted to take my niece there since she's never been to a theme park (plus we want to check it out!). I'm curious to see how much riding I'll really get in with a baby who wants to eat every 2 hours. :P We girls may hit the outlets sometime next week too. Eleanor is growing like a weed and all the 24 month/2T clothes we just bought her are already too tight or too short. :P

Penelope had her 1 month appt and she is now up to 10lbs. She had some struggle with gaining after having jaundice but she is over that now. I am quite thankful for that! She has a little red place on the underside of her tongue. The doc said it was a birthmark. I didn't know you could get birthmarks on your tongue! Weird!
  • lyndie
I'm just trying to figure out how you spotted a birthmark under her tongue. Oh... hah, I guess when they wail, you tend to notice, huh? :P *LOVE* your pic! That's awesome! And I so admire you getting out to Dollywood and Outlet Mall shopping. I just finally took both girls out, on my lonesome, to the store yesterday. How's your leg doing?

Weird about her tongue! It may disappear, though. Some birthmarks do. :) Dollywood is fun (although a bit expensive!!) Have FUN!!!! :)
