Life Changes

After my mother in laws accident we decided to get a different car to help drive her and Bonnie Herrig around in. Our MDX was too tall for two 85 year olds to get up into. We went looking for cars although Donna thought we still needed some utility but was willing to go to a car. We looked at a Honda Accord, then drove to the Toyota dealer before heading out to the Acura dealer for a used RL. Boy are we glad we did! We found this new model called Venza. Built on a Camry/Avalon chassis but with more of a wagon feel. Very easy to get into, gets 25+ MPG on the highway. We are happy. Still haven't had the widows in it yet but soon.

It is hard getting old!

My mother in law, Rusty Donahue (age 85 on 1/13) and Bonnie Herrig (age 86 in March of 09) had an auto accident yesterday. Bonnie just drifted off the road like so many do and over corrected, spinning and hitting a dirt embankment.

Both went to the hospital, Rusty's first ever ride in an ambulance.

Bonnie has a cracked sternum from the seat belt or steering wheel, but Rusty has a compression fracture of one of her vertebrae.

Pray for their quick recovery, and the car is totaled so Bonnie won't be driving any more.

    Update, they are doing a little better, we got a back brace for Rusty that keeps her rigid. Thank goodness for pain meds.

    New news. The car isn't totaled, cause it is worth more than we thought, so it can be fixed and still be under the totaled price. Bonnie is selling it to Terry Boaz, Tim's Mom. Also they are both doing better. Slowly but better.
