Timing belt?

Does anyone know anything about replacing a timing belt? Apparently my car is supposed to have it replaced before 100,000 miles which is approaching quickly... but on a protege (at least what i've read) the engine has to be taken apart to get to the belt. I'm afraid to take it to the mazda dealer cuz I know they're crazy expensive but I don't know a trustworthy mechanic in the bcs area. Any suggestions?

We usually go to Trucks Plus on Finfeather, just north of the Toxic Pond in Bryan. And they do work on cars. It may still be expensive, but they seem pretty fair.

I like your goof-up as an 8-year-old. Unfortunately, I was NOT 8 years old.

Week 1/Day 1
Report: Ouch... but not too bad!

A day in the life of a sub in ghetto bryan...

cursing, threats, broken furniture, fights, disrespectful attitudes, climbing on desks, flying chairs not to mention flying pens, erasers, and whatever small items exist in the bottom of backpacks, two visits from the assistant principal (Which did nothing), and multiple discipline forms which also do absolutely nothing. All in 2 block class periods (4 1/2 hours total).

The real teacher told me this morning that 2 of her classes are absolutely terrible and she'd be impressed if I made it the whole day. Found out the sub for this class yesterday, just left in the middle of the day because she couldn't take it anymore. I decided I wouldn't give them the satisfaction but boy did they make me regret it.

At the end of the day I told them that in my 2 years of subbing no class has ever made me as angry as I was today and that never have I not wanted to come back to a class this much. That got about 2 seconds of silence before they resumed throwing things and yelling. ALL 27 of them.

Oh yes public school system.... sign me up.

One of my biggest wishes is that the libtards that run the public school system will eventually be thrown out by upset conservative parents, and harken back to the days of physical punishment done by the teachers or enforcers. Nothing like getting whooped 10 times in front of the entire class to humiliate them into submission. and if that didn't work, I have many more ideas...hang in there!

I'm very sorry you had to experience that. Just know this: if I were in your class, I wouldn't have contributed to the madness. I hope that comforts you. :-) Have a good evening.

wow. :( I interpreted in a class a few times that made me so angry bc of how disrespectful they were to the teacher...but it was obviously partly the teacher's fault bc she either ignored them or made empty threats of punishing them. I REALLY had to hold my tongue to not speak up! (as an interpreter, it's just not my place) I could hardly stand to be in there for the hour or so of class....it about drove me nuts; there's no way I could have been in there (interpreting OR teaching...or doing anything!) every day!

...all that said, it was nothing compared to what you went through. They were just mouthing off to her or talking to each other while she was talking. Someone in that class will remember you at some point and realize they should have listened to you. I hate to think where these kids are going to be in 10 years...in prison....or working in our government! :/

Sorry... maybe soon we'll have another post like the previous one (of 1/28/10)---which I guess will say "I don't have to sub at this school ever again!" ha. Or, maybe there's SOME good you can do there. Never know... Really is sad though.

your post just gave me a flashback to my middle school/high school days...I use to feel so bad for our subs because they always acted like that...guess Bryan hasn't changed much. Sorry you had to go through that!! :/

This sounds like a class I subbed for in Arkansas several years ago, but it wasn't everyone in the classroom, just a few. I used to teach, and enjoyed it. That was 35 years ago. Teachers today tell me it isn't fun anymore.

And these students are the Future of America...

Things are looking up...

let's hope they stay that way ^_^

I've wanted to be a teacher for the longest time but experiences in the past couple of years have made me question my career decisions. The public school system just upsets me. I've been talking to a friend of mine who just took a job at the middle school where I spent alot of time during the last year of college and where I do most of my subbing... she wants out and it's only been 3 week for her. My biggest fear of teaching is that I will get fired for not being able to hold my tongue both with my students and the powers that be. I have jumped through hoops to get my certification and am tired of no child left behind. And thus... I have been applying for related jobs in the field of education. I'm not saying no to teaching forever, but for the time being, I'd like to see changes made in the school system. Maybe I should go into educational law? haha

I had an interview today with a private school for an "Admissions coordinator" position. I'm very excited and am going back for a 2nd interview this afternoon.
Please pray for me that God will guide me to make the right decisions. Being a grown up is so hard!

I know how disenchantment with education feels. After teaching a few years, and subbing for a couple, if I had to go "out" to work, I don't think I would want to teach. But I still like kids, and doing something "school related" might be a good option. My best wishes for their choice, and yours.

Have you thought about private school at all? The ones I've been to seem to be a lot better than the public schools. Hope everything works out for ya soon!

I felt the same way about teaching. I loved teaching the kids, but hated all the other stuff. It is sad that teachers have to put up with so much junk these days. And then people wonder why so many kids arent' learning stuff. Hope you can find just the right job for you.
