Sunny Sun!

What Jack said, and what couldn't be seen in our old apartment!

Sorry I haven't updated here in a while! All is good. For pictures of our sweet new Thomas, check out heatheronthehill. She takes and posts such wonderful pictures, I get most of mine from her. She posts, I steal and w/in a couple of hours, I'm picking them up at Walgreens and posting them all over our apartment!

It's been wonderful watching winter turn to spring out the windows. The trees you can see in the pictures now are sprouting leaves. People are coming out on their terraces and patios (lucky brownstone dwellers!!)

Hope all is sunny in your world!

I see the trees from the windows over my desk and have so enjoyed watching spring come. Sometimes it seemed that each time I looked up and out, the view was a little greener!

As Jack would say, "CEWL" New York in the spring time is so beautiful. Greet the Christians there for me. I miss you two.

Glad you are enjoying The View. :) Sunshine in a window amd trees outside are two glorious gifts of God's incredible world. My Dad mentioned the other day wanting to come visit his grandchildren in NY--none are Christians. He is hoping at least one of them would come worship with him. I'll let you know when, but it would probably be later in the summer. He needs a small break every once in a while and they need to see him. He never gives up trying to reach them with the truth. Their parents were disasters in spiritual training and they have paid the price. Grandchildren are so special. He's a cutie. I get to keep two granddaughters at least once a week. They spend the night and get breakfast in bed!! Josh's wife Lisa is in nursing school so we get the girls. This is exam week so they are spending a good bit of the week with us. Love it. After 4 boys, this is a big change.

Pizza. :) My hubby compared "pizza funghi" all over Italy. I know, we're not very adventurous. I did have some yummy lasagna one night, but I was so tired I just wanted to go to bed!

Thought you'd like to know... We keep finding the latest WW magazine lying around opened up to your page! We put it away with the other magazines, and Jack keeps getting it out to find your picture. He always says, "Nana is pretty" when he finds it. Soooooo sweet! He sure does love you! (And we do too!)

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes! :)

Hi! Just returned from a meeting in Johnson City, Tenn. I went because a couple our age is dealing with early stage a;zheimer's disease--she has lost short term memory and is struggling. It is so sad. While there we got to visit with Nathan Gates and his wife , a sweet young couple, and their little girl. I asked if they knew you and they did and spoke highly of you--not surprising!! {:-) Just thought I'd let you know. Know you are enjoying your new views from your apt. windows.

thats really funny that you said that because Kayla was asking me if she should shut the doors or not, but without the little curtain things it doesnt really make a difference if privacy is what youre going for, and I was too tired to come up with a comprehensive response anyways so i think it worked out. thanks for still talking to me on pleonast even though I just saw you today. its more fun that way! :)

Favorite quote from Bible class

So we now have a children's Bible class on Sunday morning, two blankets on the floor behind the movable coatrack with a sheet pinned on it to make a wall. We never know exactly who will be there so we've had 0 some weeks, or 1 to a high of 5 students, ages 2 to 10. I gotta give it to Becca Varadan, who carries a ginormous bag of materials and teaches whoever is there, whatever their age, no matter how many.

So today, 5 students from 3 to 10.

Reviewing the periods of the Bible:

Judges:

Student 1 ( 5 yrs old) - That's a book from the Bible

Student 2 (4 yrs old) - That's where you go when you hurt someone.

Only in NYC!

Yes, the "Citroen" does sound a little too much like "lemon." On a similar note, our heater brand name is "Junkers." I laughed and told my hubby that brand would never sell in the USA. Don't you just love translations?! :)
    by praguer at 02/10/10 8:07AM

Oooooh, deebledee, emm, bee, cee

The fun nickname given to Don's classes with several young people, doing self-directed study, was UWMBC - short for Upper West Manhattan Bible College. At one point we hosted a dinner for the students, and gave them t=shirts that we had made with the UWMBC logo (the letters between 2 pillars). He made me my own special shirt with the added phrase, Guidance Counselor, ha!

Anyway, yesterday, Jack was sitting in my lap and read me off the letters, pronouncing them like I spelled it above. Toooooo adorable! Maybe he's a future student!

Quote of 2009

My favorite overheard quote of the year: by a foreign tourist in a New York Souvenir shop (I had to buy some fun New Year's Eve parafan paraphan...stuff), and the quote was....." you.. have.....ah, ah, ah"..... And I'm thinking, poor guy, trying to speak a foreign language and working with a stutter........Wrong - he was asking for triple A batteries. HHHHHHAAAAAA!

That IS funny! Mom tells that when we were in Nigeria and started going to a British school, Gardner came home and said, "The British say their abc's funny." When she asked what he meant, he demonstrated, "Ah, Ba, Cuh, Duh..." They were trying to teach him phonics!

I DO think of you when I'm cleaning out and trying to talk myself into parting with stuff. If you can simplify enough to live in a small apartment, then surely I can get rid of some of my junk! Thanks for the inspiration!
And I'm glad you were able to move into an apartment where you can see the sky! I would have had a hard time living in an apartment with a restricted view!
