IT'S A............

BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reegan and Ryan came to the ultrasound with me. When the tech said it is a boy, Reegan got really quiet and mopey. A minute later she asked if we were sure. Then later she asked if we could check again. Needless to say, she really wanted a sister. She is still super excited to be a big sister, though.

I am still feeling great. Only had about two weeks of feeling bad in the beginning.

Reegan will start Kindergarten in August. She will turn 6 in September, and then Baby #2 will be born in October. Exciting fall!!!

    CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting.

Oh, and...as for Reegan's disappointment...the exact thing (u'sound and all) happened with Ash when we found out Rob was a boy. In fact, she was very mad at me for quite a while. After I told her that she would always be my ONLY "best girl" (since my other guys were boys), that helped. When Rob was born, she loved him to pieces and carried him ALLLL of the time and was the most amazing big sister. It'll alllll be good.

MO resident

Ryan and I got Missouri driver's licenses today. In the past 6 years, I've only had about a year with a license from the state I was actually living in.

I never wanted to claim IN, so I kept my TX license for the first 4 years we lived there. I finally changed it, but we sold the house a year after that. I've had that same license the past year while travelling.

I never really have liked the idea of a permenant address. I guess I'll try it out for a while now, though.
  • mladyman
Think of it this way -- makes check cashing easier, and you'll need it the first time you check Reegan out of school for whatever reason -- dr. appointment, she gets sick, whatever. (Schools run drivers licenses through an autocheck to keep sex offenders off the premises. If a registered sex offender's license is scanned, a big RED ALERT sign pops up on screen, and the police are automatically called.) We don't let folks without some form of photo ID check out their kids from school. So look at it as saving you a hassle somewhere down the line!

You can take the Texan out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the Texan!!!! She's the sweetest little rosebud...

Yesterday I was just about to start cooking and Ryan calls me from work. He said he was getting off early, so we should go to the batting cages. A lot of people he works with were going, so he wanted me and Reegan to join. I told him we wouldn't have any food for supper if I left right then. He reminded me I'm pregnant, therefore we always have stuff to scrounge on.

We went to the batting cages, took Reegan on the go carts, and came home to eat hot dogs.

We are LOVING the nice weather! Reegan said she didn't want to do the go carts again because they were too bumpy, and I realized I was much better at softball twelve years ago, but we all had fun anyway.

My suggestion to everyone--eat hotdogs for supper and enjoy the outdoors instead of cooking!!!!!!

  • cyber_space_cadet
That's a good suggestion. =) Glad you're feeling well enough to play ball and ride in go-karts. :-)

What Can I Do?

Okay, I've been working on coming up with a list of all the things I can do to fill my free time once Reegan starts school. Y'all help me decide.

1. Make more glass stuff (I've recently learned to fuse glass--lots of fun)

2. Clean house more often (Yeah right)

3. Learn new recipes (Yeah right)

4. Install new flooring down stairs

5. Anything and everything else that needs to be remodeled in our house

6. Take naps

7. Go to the movies to watch something that isn't disney

8. Have a party

9. Sit in silence

10. Read a book (once again--not disney)

11. Scan our wedding pictures to save to the computer (I've said I'm going to do this for a long time now)

12. Play with my nephew (Nathan and Katie are having a little boy!!! Yay!!!)

OR.................... Should I.....

TAKE CARE OF OUR NEW LITTLE BABY!!!!!!!!

YUP, I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!

There is a famous Baby Blues cartoon, where Wanda, sitting on a park bench while Zoe and Hammy are playing on the playscape with another obviously-older little girl, comments to the girl's mother, "Oh, I'm so ready for the children to go to school so I can get some free time." The mother gives Wanda an incredulous glance, then falls down on the ground laughing hysterically. Wanda mutters to herself, "Uh. Oh." It is so true! You get caught up volunteering in the classroom, doing stuff around the school, doing stuff for the congregation, and helping out that suddenly all your time is taken up. But it is SO much fun to volunteer and be able to do so much. I only got one year of kids all in school and me not having to work, but I sure enjoyed it. I was not bored a single moment.
    by mladyman at 02/08/10 5:39AM
  • nolongerwise
Yeah, I'm sure I won't get bored too often!

I'm glad you're going to have free time. I had trouble letting the kids go and volunteered in the school so I could see what was happening behind the scenes. The hardest part was getting organized and getting them up and out the door in time for the bus. I don't think you will have any trouble finding things to do, you're creative.
