WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm done with grad school! Graduating Saturday! SO EXCITED!!!!! I have officially earned a Masters in Public Administration!

so...close...

waiting for a friend's feedback on my final assignment before I submit it. assignment wasn't good enough the first time, so I had to redo 90% of it. blech! and all a little over a week before final grades are due. very stressful. A&M was not this stressful. so glad this is all almost finally over...

almost there...

Graduation is May 13th or 14th.

Comprehensive exams completed.

All that stands between me and my Masters in Public Administration now are two grant proposals.

So close I can taste it!!!

Just celebrated my one year wedding anniversary with the love of my life! Can't believe it's already been a year! Can't wait to see what the future has in store for us! We have been very happy and fortunate so far, so I can only imagine that it will just get better from here!

I realized at work today that I finally don't hesitate when I introduce myself as Penny Wilson. I guess it takes about a year to get used to that change. Changing my name is a small price to pay for getting to spend the rest of my life with the most fantastic person on earth. :-)

How are y'all doing? Not seeing too many white links to click on these days. Has everyone abandoned pleo for facebook, twitter, and blogspot?

venting...

1. I was at the grocery store last night and as I rolled my cart out to the parking lot, I noticed a big bag of Lays Sour Cream and Onion chips in the child seat area of my cart. I did not even touch a bag of Lays when shoppping, I'm on Weight Watchers and they are a no-no!

So I walked back in and told my cashier and bag boy that they gave them to me by accident and the lady that was now checking out, said, "Oh those are ours!" Handed the chips to the bag boy then skimmed my receipt and realized they had also charged me for the chips.

I wait patiently and the lady that claimed the chips says, "Did they charge you for them? Come over here." She had paid the cashier so she rolls her cart over to the customer service counter line and i get in line behind her thinking we are going to explain the situation and I'll get my money back and she'll pay for the chips.

Well, the man in line ahead of us was taking awhile to finish his business. So we wait. And then chip lady casually rolls her cart away and out of the store. I tell customer service that I was incorrectly charged for the chips and he refunds me my $2.60. I see chip lady getting in her car in the parking lot, but I didn't have the guts to say anything to her.

I have no clue if the other lady was ever charged for the chips. From the way she acted she wasn't charged and now has received a free bag of chips courtesy of Kroger.

I know there are a lot of ways to justify what she did. It really was the cashier's fault for scanning the chips that were not even with my set of groceries.

BUT the lady knew the chips were hers, she knew I was incorrectly charged, and yet she still made the choice to just leave without paying for the chips.

DISHONEST!

That really burned me up last night.

2. Got my butt chewed out by a woman at one of our provider's offices over a miscommunication between a client and one of my staff members. Had to just say that we messed up and would fix it by blah blah blah because documentation in the client's file was not up to date in our office so I couldn't prove otherwise.

I hate how people get all wound up about something and then just go off on another person without waiting to hear the full story.

Moral of the story: Don't get outraged about something and make others feel tiny before you have all the facts. Make sure there is something to be outraged about before you verbally lash out at another human being.

End of venting session.

I would say it's their mistake and she shouldn't have to waste her time to fix the error - or she could have simply left without the bag of chips (without you noticing)

rought start...

Well 2011 is here! Duh, right?

I did not start this new year how I would have liked. I came down really sick New Year's Day. Boo! I am still getting over the tail end of it, but at least I was able to come back to work yesterday. I just don't get why I always get sick on the holidays. Eventually I hope to have a healthy holiday so I can actually enjoy the whole thing and not be a party pooper!

On a bright note, we are heading to DFW tonight to prepare to attend the 75th Cotton Bowl! Gig 'em Aggies! This is the first bowl game I've ever gone to and I'm pretty excited about it. We are taking Chris' little brother Nicholas with us which should be fun. Anyone else out there planning to go?

Other than being sick, the holidays went well. We spent Christmas in Corpus with Chris' family since we did Thanksgiving with mine. I realized while there just how blessed I am to have such wonderful in laws! I was a little worried that Christmas would make me sad since it's the first EVER that I have not spent with my family. Chris' family is so great though that I felt right at home. I did get a twinge of homesickness when I talked to my family on the phone, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I think if I had those horrible in laws you always hear stories about then I would have been a wreck. It also helped that Chris was with me and as long as I'm with him I know all is right in the world. I am so blessed!

Classes start back up in a couple weeks - eek! I can't believe it's my last semester! I hope I don't blow it...

Most people in school this long end up being something awesome like a doctor or a lawyer (like my cousin), but me, I'm just going to keep being lowly public servant. As long as the President doesn't make my job obsolete in three years.

Please say a prayer for our good friend Clinton. He's in the Navy and is currently spending time in the Middle East. We're very proud of his desire to protect our nation, but boy do we worry when he is deployed! Can't wait to see him when he's back on the mainland this Spring.

I hope you all are doing well. Leave me a message!

It's not that awesome. Nobody makes jokes about public servants (only people, like lawyers and politicians, who pretend to be).
