What I Did This Summer
Okay, so for those who are wondering if I fell off the face of the earth...no. (You were expecting something witty?)
Since the last time I wrote (May 6 or 9 or something like that), I have:
Gone to the graduation ceremonies of two children (the same ceremony, but one got her Associate of Arts and one got her Bachelor of Arts);
During the same journey to Graduation Land, we visited with the in-laws (mine) and my sister and my parents;
During the same journey we visited with the two kids that didn't graduate;
After the trip we celebrated everyone's May birthday except for hers because we had celebrated back in Tampa. But the trip delayed things so my birthday was celebrated (by my dearest and me anyway) 12 days after the real day. (Because the real day was spent driving 35 mph on I-10 in Mobile through a deluge.) My dearest's birthday was celebrated (by me and him again) 8 days after the actual day. And her birthday was celebrated 4 days after the actual day. (Hey, at least we got better!)
In the two weeks after we returned from Graduation Land we:
Unpacked from the trip which is a time-consuming and exhausting event at our house;
Took her on a job-hunting expedition which was successful for her and her sister.
Tried to figure out what to do with more of the stuff that we moved here from Alabama. I still have not figured out the physics behind buying a house that is twice the size of the one we lived in and yet still not having enough room for our stuff.
Then last week we had company--yes, for the whole week! We have had more company since we moved to Texas than we have in the last 4 or 5 years that we lived in Alabama. I can't figure that one out either. Not that I'm complaining, it's just a little mind-boggling. Here we live farther away, but more people come to see us. We thought we'd be abandoned! It is a very nice change of events for us.
And now, here I sit, writing a pleo blog when I should be working on the bulletin board to which I was assigned for the Vacation Bible School. That is next week. I need to have the board up before next week. I think I have lost any creative tendencies with which the Lord blessed me. At least I always thought that I had a few creative talents. Maybe I was just fooling myself. Because though I have ideas, what I need to complete it is not materializing. And I have spent a gazillion hours online trying to find the perfect pictures.
Anyone know where I can find a picture of a father reading his Bible to his children?
And I could start another whole blog right there. But I guess I should work on the bulletin board and if I feel like commenting on the lack of pictures later I will.
