A New Year starts...

January is half over or is at the mid-way point( for the negative and postive "outlookers").

Our family is well and very blessed.

After a pleasantly cold week in December, in North Carolina with all 9 of us together, we came back closely knit together with many happy and warm memories.

Lectures are approaching and friends are a'coming... birthdays for some of my favorite folks are around the corner... to name a few of the good things coming up.

May God bless you all as we strive to honor Him in this new year.

I can't remember if I told you how much I ended up enjoying the book you recommended! I almost quit on it several times because the characters were SO OBNOXIOUS but the fact that you had said it was good kept me going and I was so glad I did. Thanks! I'll look forward to hearing about the new author.

I love Jennifer Chiaverini! I've been reading her for a long time and each year watch for her newest book. Right now I'm looking forward to the latest book in Donita Paul's Dragon series. And in September, a sequel to one I just found a few months ago -- The Lumby Lines by Gail Fraser (or Frazer, I forget.)

Have you read any of Lisa Wingate's Tending Roses series? I just read the latest one -- I really like them. She has another series I don't like as well, but these are really good. (Read them in order, though.)

    by harbermama at 10/25/07 7:46PM

just passing by

I am grateful for so many things right now and know that I should have these same thoughts all the time. I am proud of my children and so thankful that God has allowed Paul and I to be the ones to raise them. I have a wonderful husband that love so so much. I have great supportive family and friends... the list goes on and on.

We have had the privilege to attend several of the Thesis presentations and I was amazed at not only the depth of learning these "kids" have experienced but more importantly, the things they have been learning have been held up along -side scripture. I would encourage parents to explore the Liberal Studies program for their young men and women. For the guys - great life training skills and opportunities to use this knowledge in all walks: career, congregations and family. For the girls - if you are interested in God's great world, you can learn things that will help you be a more interesting wife and mother as well as understand His ways in our world... to name a few things!

To see how much the students grow spiritually over four years has been a wonderful privilege. I am not "plugging" sending your kids here, but if you and they want to continue towards higher education, then this school and program are such a great option.

  • harbermama
Okay, you talked me into it. I'll send mine. Oh, wait....

    How are things going?

This the the old Colorado Tara that is now the Alabama Tara. Just wanted to say hello. Sounds like your live is much like ours. Lance graduated from U.A.B. May 5, Chad got married June 9th, and on June 10th Lance and Shea told us that we'll be grandparents in January/February 08. I can't believe that our children are grown, married and starting families. Hope you are doing well!

Sweet friend, I'm sick. I'm sick all the time. I'm sure it's stress. This too shall pass. Probably by mid August, I'll stop being sick to my stomach. I love you and thanks for checking on me.
    by spookbrat at 07/06/07 8:41AM

I am popular! thanks Alison : )

my 6 weird things :

1. I wash already supposedly- washed bagged salads ( using a grapefruit seed extract from the health food store)

2. I am not afraid to have my house unlocked day or night

3. I read AND eat in the bathtub

4. I don't like Harry Potter ( read the first one and am not intriqued, thank you very much)

5. I think Doris Day has a lovely singing voice

6. I typically do not laugh at what everyone else laughs at...
  • themother
I like Doris Day's singing too -- and the Lennon Sisters (some of you may know who that is! And I read in the bathtub and while I don't remember eating, of COURSE I've drunk tea! So I don't think you're so weird....

Enjoy your week!
