Quilts

I love to sew and have wanted to learn to make quilts for years. It's been on my to do list way too long.
My mom gave me a new quilting book every year for the past several years. When she was at the hospice
house we spent a lot of time talking and I cherished every second. She told me I needed to slow down and
enjoy life more. I told her that I would.

So.........I'm planning my first quilt. I plan to make the first one for my sweet daughter.
I'll post some pictures of the quilt top when it's finished.

Still trying to get used to a new normal and still missing my mom more than I can express.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Oh, how I wish I had the blessing of "missing my mom" while she yet lives. Estrangement is very difficult. :( You have had a true blessing in your mother and my heart aches for your loss, dear sister.

I can't wait to see your quilt! Your daughter will love that. My craftiness is cross stitching! I do a bib for each grand baby and frame it. Guess I'm going to have to be working on another one right soon!

    Blessings and love to you!

Dear Marmee, my heart hurts for you. I understand estrangement as I was estranged from my dad for years and then he died and I didn't even know he was sick. It hurts our hearts for sure.

My mom was such a blessing to me. I sure hope she knew that. I love to do cross stitching too. Before we were blessed with our daughter, I did crafts a lot. After she was born though, she was and has remained the priority in my life (after God and my hubby). What a sweet thing that you've done and are going to do for your new grand baby soon. Thank you for letting your light shine. You're such an encouragement to me. Blessings and love to you too!!

Happy 2015!!

This and That

We've been enjoying a visit from my brother and we're sad that he'll be flying back to his home tomorrow. He's always been a nice person and fun to have around. He keeps us all laughing and our pets adore him. Most importantly he loves the Lord and tries to live right.

Local homeschool group and state homeschool graduations are done and our sweet graduate has already signed up for her college courses via early registration. She was so excited about her schedule this Fall and was able to talk with her college advisor for almost 30 minutes yesterday. I very much appreciate the time they take to make sure she is taking the courses she needs to graduate from their college and to transfer into a nursing program. I still can't believe we're finished homeschooling our sweet baby girl, but I'm so happy for her and love that she's excited about starting this new chapter in her life. Our empty nest will take some getting used to for both me and my husband, but we'll get there. I'm very much looking forward to the holidays when our daughter will be at home. I'm hoping that she'll bring friends home with her and our house will be bustling with activity once again. :0)

We have a busy, fun summer ahead of us. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Happy and Sad.......does that make sense???

I hope so because that's the only way I know how to describe how I'm feeling these days. One graduation (our homeschool group one) done and one to go. One corner of our daughter's room is filling up with zebra pattern and purple colored bedding, room accessories, etc. She may end up moving into her dorm a week earlier (sigh) due to a special program she's thinking about applying for. She's so excited and we are too (most of the time). I can't help but think about how quiet our house will be when our sweet baby girl (who is almost 18) leaves for her college adventure. Please pray for us - we keep pushing forward and getting everything done. We've raised her to keep God first, to be kind and compassionate, hospitable, able to take care of herself and to be cautious. We just need to keep reminding our hearts of all that. :0)

I remember the feelings! I'm sure you've done an excellent job....and so will she! There may be physical distance between you, but not between your hearts.
