Update of the year

Hi everybody! I was notified that it's been a while since I've updated this, so I need to change it! Last time I was on here, I was working in the electronics section of Wal-Mart. Now I've gone on to pursue my dreams of being a teacher. I am currently a substitute teacher, and I tutor on the side. Every day I learn new things, and I continue to take steps closer to getting my own classroom!

In the past year, I visited Australia. I visited family, pet the koalas and wallabies, saw the Opera House, and went to some beautiful beaches. I hope I can do more international traveling... that was an awesome experience :)

I would like to go to Europe someday.... of course, that day is far, far away.

What part? I would like to one day see Italy, Germany, and England. In specific Sulfolk England. We linked my ancestors all the way back to John De Crabtre (yes with one E) to Sulfolk England in 1342 and I am curious if there is anything else I can find in England about the family. I think it would be very cool if I could link everyone back to the time of Jesus but I am not sure the documents go back that far. I was impressed with the 1800's but it is worth a try.

Yeah, John said that about a lot of Europe when he was stationed there. I was wondering about how this weeks works for you to come over or just do something? I am no longer sick (YAY) and my company will be leaving Saturday afternoon so what sounds good? Meet up again on Sunday or a different day?

New Job!!

I got re-hired at Wal-Mart!! I am so excited! I am going to be working in the Connections Center, which means I'll be selling phones and working some in the Electronics department too. I have never done that before, so it will be neat to learn something new! I took the drug test yesterday, so I should be starting sometime this week... my boss said she will call me and tell me when Orientation is. I am so happy that God has given me this blessing!

I'm doing well, I'm going part time at work next week, and will be working about 20-25 hours a week. I just had a dr appointment this past wednesday and everything went well. I'm very healthy for a pregnant woman, and the baby is healthy and active. This week, tomorrow night Larry and I are going to Larry's dad's for dinner (for me it's the first time I've been in months to his real dad's), and then wednesday I might have a meeting for work, so it's going to be a busy week. I'm ready to go part time, I'm so tired. I don't know a date or time yet for when my baby shower is, but I'll keep you updated. It'll be sometime in July or August. I saw both your brothers at Seminole last night. I miss you and am glad things are going well for you :) I bet the Jewelry dpmt is so much easier than electronics :)

Awesome, I'm so happy for you two, and we'll have to go double dating sometime, Andy is Larry's second or third cousin, so Larry and Andy are related and they get along pretty well. Is your phone number still the same or has it changed? Larry and I are using a phone that has unlimited time on it, I lost a lot of peoples phone numbers since all this phone changing stuff has been going on, could you e-mail it to me Vanya075@msn.com so I can call you? I miss you and hope all continues to go well :)

Lately

How was everyone's Christmases? Mine was wonderful! We had a total of three Christmas parties at our house. I went to a Christmas party at Kari's house, and I went to the annual Lester family Christmas Eve dinner at my grandparents' house. For Christmas I got a digital frame, which is totally awesome! Yesterday I went with my family up to Brooksville and went hiking. Today I did some job hunting. I decided that while I am still unemployed, I am going to fill my time with pursuing three goals. I'm going to post these three goals up here for you guys to hold me accountable to. When I finally get a job, you all have to ask me if I met my goals.

My goals:

1) Sort through some boxes in my room that I still haven't unpacked from FC.

2) Finish reading the New Testament. (I'm a really slow reader, so you guys need to push me!)

3) Brush up on my Spanish. (I hope to become fluent someday.)

Hope everyone has a happy New Year!!!
  • backtoblack
Tu metas es muy buena! I think I got that right! LOL. I miss you too! I am glad you are done with school and can now job hunt! Good luck, and keep me posted! Love you!

Not a problem. Can't wait. No idea who will be over but if no one is able to make it I am sure we will still have fun any way. Bonnie wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it something about last minute can't remember. I got some movies for christmas that look good including the half blood prince! So we will have plenty of entertainment!
    by karileeresto at 12/30/09 8:09AM
  • backtoblack
"Meta's" are goals..if I am remembering my Espanol correctly. LOL and all your goals are VERY good my dear. I too want to brush up on my Spanish and wanted to do it by way of "Rosetta Stone". heard of it? Anyway it suppose to be the BEST for learning languages and I have a list of languages I want to learn a mile long. However, Rosetta Stone costs a small fortune...per language! So...I am brainstorming how to make this happen. LOL
    by backtoblack at 12/30/09 4:38PM
  • backtoblack
I too have thought of the library, I have yet to check it out (no pun intended;) but I would assume there would be a HUGE waiting list for it. ESPECIALLY for Spanish! I have a neighbor who would gladly teach me Italian,I might try French. I am half French, but I completely BUTCHER the language! OH it's awful, and embarrassing! Sometimes I do it on purpose, but most times...I just stink. I would LOVE to be able to say in French "Your country's government STINKS!" and say it at the Eiffel Tower! It is my dream!!!!! Then I want to learn Russian so I can say the same sentence in Russian standing at the Red Square! I pray I get the chance! Of course in Russia, I may never be seen again. But with Spanish the possibilities are endless! Why we can stand on the edge of Key West and shout greetings to incoming Cuban refugees, we can be the first to inform them that there is a shark attatched to their posteriors, and their floating tire has a leak. We can shout out to Cuban's and ask if Castro is still alive and to prove it. I am all for using language for practical reasons.

Sure you can invite anyone you want to I don't mind. I was thinking around 6 or 7 pm. Arlene is going to drop in for a bit I think with her kids but other than that she is the only one I have heard anything back from so far. Yeah I would love that poem it sounds great!

Fall 09

Sorry I have not posted in four months! This has been a crazy semester, and it is finally over! Today was the last day of my internship, and now I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education! I had a kindergarten class full of perfect children, whom I didn't want to leave. However, I am glad I am done with all that work. I am really excited to go job hunting and hopefully start getting some paychecks soon!

So I saw on the Hillsborough County School District website that there's over 125 instructional openings...I can't WAIT to get down there! Tell me somethin'...what is the FTCE like? Also, do most of the Universities in Tampa (USF, UT, UF even, FC, and St Pete College) all require just a semester of internship, or a full year? Just curious...I'll be moving in the middle of June! :)

    Congrats on the Bachelor's Degree!

I wonder if they would allow my PRAXIS I & II scores to "count" for that instead...I'm not sure I really want to pay tons more for ANOTHER test...but ya know...I will if I have to...how much is the FTCE? see, I guess I'll be at an advantage when I get there then because I've had a full year of internship over most everyone else's semester...I've SEEN what it's like the first days before school and when school starts, and I will have seen the end of the school year too (just not as an intern, as a sub)...so...*hopefully* they'll see that as a benefit of me working for them...ha idk...

Congratulations on your Bachlors degree! I'm so excited for you! Hope your job hunting goes well! Even if you don't get a teaching job right away, you could always go for a full time subbing job as well, It may not pay as much, but it would be something temporary until you found a teaching job.

Summer 09

Summer is almost over, and this was one of the best summers I have ever had! I got to relax, travel, work, and turn 22 years old! I worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier (like I do every summer), and Thursday is my last day doing that. I traveled to Hawaii, Indiana, and Georgia. August 11th was my birthday; this was during our trip to Georgia to see my dad. While in Georgia, we went to a little German town called Helen and went tubing down the Chattahoochee River. Although this was an amazing summer, I'm ready for school to start! This will be my final semester of college, and I will be interning in a kindergarten classroom. I am looking forward to being around such cute little ones and helping them get used to being at school.
  • karileeresto
Sure that sounds good! No idea honestly! I am planning on watching Garfields Halloween, Snoopy's Halloween, and watching all the Harry Potter movies that night. More than welcome to join in the fun! Even got a Harry Potter seen it game!

We will be watching Cody Bongo's girlfriend for a few days while Linda is gone so I won't be able to go to the haunted house. Sorry about that. It was a last minute thing and Linda isn't comfortable with leaving Cody at a pet hotel since she has bad anxiety attacks and tends to loose it when her mommy is gone. You can still come over to watch the movies though.

It has been crazy around here that is for sure. Bonnie took Trax for the first time to the halloween costume contest with us last tuesday, then while I was there I fell and injured my back, I have been trying to organize the apartment before the week that Cody is over so I can spend time with her cause I know she gets nervous when her mommy isn't here, John got the flu last week, then we did a bunch of running around Saturday, I am supposed to go to a wedding shower this weekend but with cody being here I don't know that I will go anywhere. This time of the year there is always a busy schedule whether we plan for it or not.

well good news I landed the job of doggy sitting and got paid 3 weeks in advance. Bad news I am sick with something that is causing stomach pain, fever, sore throat, and congestion. No idea what is going on right now but I think it is safe to say I probably can't go anywhere on Saturday cause I doubt this is just going to blow over in one day like I want it to. But hey we can always get together and play games or find something else to do after I get feeling better.

Thanks. I am feeling better after one week of being sick. Amanda and I were talking about doing something for my birthday on the 30th of this month. Would you like to join in? She suggested maybe Disney world since I can get in free for my b-day. Not sure what to do yet just figured I would be able to do something this year since in the past I was either sick or busy with family things. Let me know.

I had a great Thanksgiving, thanks for asking. I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving and today, I got a few things done today, I started cleaning around the house, I paid rent, car insurance and got enough cleaning stuff to last Larry and I for a while, after that, I waited until he came home and here I am. Other than my job situation, everything is going great! I hope I find one very soon! How was your Thanksgiving? What's new?

Well, one minute I was stressed out about my job and the next minute I liked my job and they had talked to me about several things that I needed to work on several occasions. So, when my 60 day review came around, they knew that things weren't working out either, so I didn't meet their standards. I did the best I could and that's all anyone can ever ask of me. Probably for the better, but now I'm filling out job apps like crazy and calling them all back today and I'm going to fill out more as well.
