Hi, don't have much time, but just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words. We are here and very happy, except my son at the moment because of an unfortunate case of poopy diaper. Will post more later. For now, thank you so much!!!

Um, Walker IS my alarm clock :) Actually he bought me a nice alarm clock, ipod dock speaker thing but I haven't quite figured out how it works. I set the alarms but haven't figured it out. Miss you, can you put Leon in Craig's suitcase? Just for a little visit. I'll bring him back, really :)

Okay, update on mommy happenings. I'm on day 4 of baby boot camp. Leon is doing great, mom is surviving and ready for GEMS lovn'. We'll be leaving Alabama and headed to Nebraska next Friday! We're very excited about the move, but sad about leaving the great state of Alabama and all it's wonderful inhabitants. Please keep us in your prayers as we move to help out with the work in Lincoln. If you haven't come to see Leon yet, please do before next Friday.

Ohhh. I'm not a fan. Actually, if you read my blog you may know I'm 100% opposed. But, I still love you guys :)...I'm just a nurse-on-demand, cuddle-and-wear-mybaby-most-of-the-time mama--I would attend a Babywise bookburning if I could find one. LOL. The Ezzo's and Ferbers are not on my list of 'those I admire and respect' when it comes to parenting.

I will say, though, that I think you are at least keeping it to the minimum and not making him wait 3-4 hours...I hope you work out something that works for you both for a happy baby and happy mama :)

So, would anyone like to weigh in on why my three week old might have a yellowy glob build up in one of his eyes. I gently wipe it away every time I see it but I never ends! What is that? I'm feeling like if I call the Pediatrician over it he might charge me for sheer stupidity. Any ideas or cures?

Hey Summer! It's Bridgette Hough from Pepper Road. Congrats on Leon! I'm guessing he might have a clogged tear duct. The dr. always told me to gently massage the eye with a warm wash cloth several times a day. Can't be for certain this is what you're dealing with, but sounds very similar to what both of mine experienced.

Clogged tear duct. Yes. What she said. Several of mine had that.

I massaged them (with clean hands, of course) every time I nursed--which was OFTEN :). It goes away in no time. Just be sure to use a clean wash cloth each time--make it very warm, too. It may dry at night and he may wake with his eye sealed shut. If so, use the very warm wet washcloth to clean it up.

If it does not go away or gets red or irritated, many pediatricians will give you an ointment. I did this with the first, but just used the warm compresses, massaging with the others.

Yes, your dear friend, Katie, had this BADLY. She finally had to have surgery when she turned a year old. The doc had told me (as she said) to massage the duct with my little pinkie while I nursed her. I know I don't need to tell you that my hands were STERILIZED! :) It didn't do the trick, though. Her beautiful eyes were always full of muck. It was really nasty...The surgery was very quick and minor but I'll never forget the feeling I had when they carried my little baby off into the operating room to put her under anesthesia... Everything went fine, though!

Sarabeth had that too. I think the Dr gave them some medicine or something, but it wsa a clogged tear duct.

Late to the discussion, but Meredith had eye goo at that age, too. Our pediatrician gave the same advice as above. Then, I took her in for a visit. He said "Let me try something", and put his knuckle against her inner eye and pushed HARD! I actually heard a "pop" as the obstruction cleared out of the duct. After that, I washed it several times a day and it never came back. As the disclaimer says, don't try this at home.

Babies are much more complicated to care for when you have one of your own, aren't they? =0)

Leon Russell Mauldin is here safe and sound. Seth has several good pictures of him on his facebook account!

He was born on May 28th, just a few years and hours after my grandfather, Ed Bragwell. He was quite pleased to hear about his wonderful bithday present.

We are here in Birmingham at my parents enjoying the first precious days of Leon's life.

Everyone is well and we are so thankful for such a smooth pregnancy and delivery, so thanks to all who have said a prayer on our behalf. We are very humbled by our many blessings.

ps Leon does miss his Aunt Neece and wants her to not be sad while he's away.

Congratulations! I might need to be added to Seth's FB so I can see pictures!

Hey Summer! Thank you so much for the prayers!!! We appreciate them!! I am 16 weeks today. I went to the dr Friday and she said the clot is getting smaller. I have been spotting lately so it's back to bedrest but hopefully all of this will be gone in a few weeks!!! When is your little boy due?? Hope you and Seth are doing well! I will be praying for you and the baby that everything goes smoothly when you deliver!!!!

Everything is going good so far. The clot is getting smaller which is great but still there so we are still on light activity for now but hopefully everything will get better soon!! Thanks so much for your prayers!! BTW we found out today we are having a little girl : )
