Chris Davidson

My former boss that had colon cancer Chris Davidson, passed away yesterday peacefully in the care of hospice. He was 35 years old and left behind a wife and 3 children who have no family here. Please continue to pray for their strength.

Thank you all for your prayers for their family in the past, I think now they need a little more. The power of prayer is amazing and I am blessed to be able to call on so many for help.

prayers please

Some of you might remember my post i did a while back about a dear friend from high school who is fighting stage 4 colon cancer?! well she finished her final round of chemo and was being prepped for surgery when they went in to do do the surgery and her cancer was already back and had multiplied. she is now scheduled for a stronger dosage of chemo that makes her very weak and unable to do much to help with the 3 kids. this past week she has been in and out of the hospital numerous times waiting for results from an emergency colonscopy. At 29, she is very sick. Please continue to pray.

I forgot how to attach links but her is the website to her blog where she continues to keep a positive outlook on a grim situation.

question of the day.

if you found a dog that had been left in the backyard (in the summertime in phoenix) for over a week that was skin and bones and looked as though it has been through trauma, would you give it back to the owner if they ever came back or would you keep it/ give it to someone that would truly care for it and make it healthy?

please help.
  • buttermilk
i would call a rescue shelter that could find someone to adopt it. i don't think i would keep it... they say that violence towards animals usually develops into violence towards humans. i wouldn't want to get into an argument with the owner about how he treats his dog.

I would NOT give them back, absolutely not. If you can't take care of him, take him to a nearby vet or no-kill facility and they can give him help. If you want to you can even take the dog to the Arizona Humane Society (there are a couple of places in Phoenix there). Once they see the dog, they will not give it back to the "owners" and might even send someone out there to give them a citation.
If the "owners" won't take responsibility to for the dog, do what's best for the animal. Get it some help.

i can take care of her. i want her. i do not think she should go back but who am i to say they aren't taking care of her. i just see how she is now! the owner has come over and asked for her back along with two of the kids. do i stall them till i have her the 6 days and register her as mine or do i give her back and try and offer them money to buy her?

i'm not worried about the trauma she was caused as we have had her the past 3 days she has turned over a new leaf, very playful and good with my nephew and the other dogs! is it fair to not give her back when they want her? i question how much they really do want her. they have come over but never asked about info to actually find her themselves. they are waiting for someone to do it for them! would a shelter contact someone from a phone number? what would they do?

what a day.

so i have not lost all hope in humanity. here's why.

today my grandma and i had a HUGE day planned, including ikea, a mall trip and wal-mart to get pedicures and other assorted goodies from wal-mart including but not limited to another night light for my grandma since hers doesn't work. (not necessarily fun to spend the day with a 90 year old but it keeps her young) so we had hit up ikea, and were at the mall to get my mom's birthday present, as we were walking up my sweet little 90 year old grandma went down. she could not get her foot up all the way and fell on her face. broke her glasses, split open her eye, gave herself a fat lip and consequently has a swollen cheek from landing on her face. (she has taught herself to have all her weight land on her face instead of breaking another one of her fake knees). she laid there for a minute not moving so i start to freak but she rolls over and is laughing a little. still scary, but i get her back together and have tissue on her cuts and 3 people ask us if we need help! this i was not expecting! i got her up and back to the car and she insisted i run in and get my mom's present. i RAN through the mall to get the gift card and when i came out to the car she had an ice pack on her face! the man that wanted to get his first aid kit out of his car to help had gotten her ice from the cinnabon! AND she said someone else apporached the car to help her. that made me smile, that some people are not scared enough to help.

the best part about the day is that we still got pedicures! haha, she did not want the hospital and said i could butterfly just as good as they could (even though i think she needs stitches). now her face matches her toes! all nice and shiney! i can't wait till i'm 90.

Awww, your poor Grandma. Glad she's okay...sort of okay I guess. I don't really NEED to count calories. But, I have found out recently that if I just eat, all the time, like I normally do, I gain weight. I gained about 10 pounds when I went back to work in August because I would just snack all day. So, I'm just trying to catch it now when its not a major problem. I'm going for more of a lifestyle change than a diet. :)

Nice story to hear. I work with hundreds of customers everyday, and almost everyday say something to the tune of losing all hope of humanity. So, thanks for the story. Oh and your grandma seems like a cool lady.

Thanks for that! I need to see what my dad is planning for his late night talks and then go from there. But I agree that dating is something that needs to be discussed because there are so many temptations involved. I would love your list if you get a chance. I have no idea where Mason is either. TX is huge!

the roller coaster ride that is my life.

i thought melissa was bad at updating till i saw the date of my last update! WHOAH!

well lots has happened.
1. found a house
2. lost my job
3. got another job
4. then got another job
5. cancelled the contract on the house

it all might sound bad but actually i am very happy now! the job i lost i despised for many reasons and wanted to get out but was waiting for the house to go through. i found a job working at a non profit organization called parenting arizona and i absolutely love it. free reign on when i work so i got a second job baking at a deli! i now get to practice all my goodies. soon i'll have a website up and running and i'll be able to show all my goodies to everyone! :) i cancelled the house although it could have worked out due to way too much stress and red flags. i feel God has other plans for me than for me to live down the street from my brother and sister in law! till then i'll sit back patiently until i figure it all out!

Happy May to you all! i hope it is wonderful for you! :)

Hey Liz!! Wow!! I hope we don't get any of that kind of excitement!! I am glad that things have worked out for you, however. So, you like to bake? Britt is interested in getting into the culinary program for school. Any thoughts on that?

You sound content with all of the above. I'm glad! I liked your little comment btw about the mini's. My sister wants to work for a not for profit. She has volunteered at half a dozen of them which I think we'll be good when she finishes school and really starts looking.

You have such a good outlook on things, Liz! I love that about you =] For the party I tried a few new recipes ... enchiladas verdes & beef enchiladas. They turned out yummy! I also made these little mexian cookies called empanadas...a new favorite around our house!
