Well I Guess Its Prime Time For An Update In The Crazy Life Of Michelle
Basically this year has live up to my New Years resolution: life is an adventure so live it! Here is one way to live your life as an adventure.
Step one: At the last minute decide to go to Europe on a volleyball exposure tour to play professionally. When I say last minute I mean decide on a Monday that that Saturday I am leaving the country and oh did I mention I did not have a passport. Nothing a trip down to Miami can't fix.
Step 2: Move to Perry Point, MD as a member of the Americorps. Live in a 2 story house with 5 other strangers from Cali, Texas, Detroit, and Rhode Island. Did I mention 1 old bathroom. Plus you are then put on a team of 11 people that you will be working, traveling, eating, sleeping, and all the above with for the next 10 months. It's like the Real World without all the drunk people running around hooking up with one another.
So far this year has been just insane. I have met so many people from so many different walks of life. It has really opened my eyes beyond the bubble effect that can be caused when you get comfortable with where you are. However it has also caused me to appreciate my life in Tampa and the people that I was surrounded by.
Currently my team is preparing to go down to Meridian, Mississippi to help with the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. They are predicting that we should finish this project in 2-3 weeks because my team is highly efficient (we are the best). Once we complete that project we will head down to New Orleans and start another. We will probably be there until our summer break in June. I am so excited to have the opportunity to help those that are still recovering from Katrina.
This week my team has been taking a Wildland Firefighter Training class. It is pretty cool. Hopefully this summer we will have the opportunity to work on a fire out West.
I hope everyone in Tampa is doing good.
Oh yeah and my roomie from Detroit corn rowed my hair. It looks pretty sweet! If I knew how to I would put a pic of it on here. I'll work on that.
Peace and hair grease!
