Jitters

Daniel's SECOND birthday is Saturday! I can't believe it! We're doing his party on Friday evening in hopes that more friends can come and maybe not interfere with Halloween stuff. It's going to be a Dr. Seuss theme and if I can pull off all of my ideas, I think it is going to turn out really cute!

Last night my mom and I went to the Sound of Music Sing-A-Long. It was SO fun! There were actually about 30 people there, which was more than we thought there would be! Lots of popcorn, candy, and Cherry Coke along with singing for a couple of hours...definitely something I'd do again and again!

Otherwise, we're just trucking along. October has gone by WAY too fast! It's going to be 2011 before we know it!

Yeah...I was telling my mom all the places in the movie that I had been in Salzburg. She did NOT think that was funny! ;)

Is it Fall yet?

Hello, again! It's been a while, but I've been lurking all along. Hope that doesn't creep you out too much.

It has been crazy busy this summer, which has been so much fun! Last year it felt like we didn't take advantage of the sunshine and warm weather, so I have been dedicated to doing so this year. Lots of swimming and just being outside. Daniel and his cousins will be taking swim lessons for the next several weeks at the rec center. It should be fun!

She had a really good update today, including our awesome evening together this week. I'm so grateful for such a treat from my best friend. It was refreshing and so nice to reconnect. Our 10-year reunion was an epic fail. It was nice to see how people have changed and grown up (for the most part ;)), but the party was L-A-M-E. They hired a company to plan it, so I blame it on the "experienced" planners. Too much money wasted...we will definitely second-guess our attendance in 10 years.

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I've picked up sewing over the last few months. A couple from church handed down an old sewing machine and it has been perfect to get me started. Too much fun! I have made some headbands, baby kimono shoes, and a little clutch (complete with a zipper) ALL BY MYSELF! It's so rewarding to see the finished product. So, if anyone has any fun, fairly easy sewing project ideas, I welcome them with open arms!

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend ahead. Time to soak up the love of the people you care most about!

how did you learn to sew? Teach yourself, have someone teach you, watch videos?
    by staci at 09/03/10 1:17PM
  • michelle
Staci, I spent a few hours with a lady from church who was patient enough to sit with me and teach me the basics of sewing. She showed me how to thread a machine, take apart what I need to if I mess up, and basic sewing techniques. I definitely recommend it if you're even slightly interested. It's a lot easier to pick up than I would have thought and so many projects only require straight lines/stitches anyway!

Oh! Then a few things I have done were from online blog tutorials or free patterns that have great step-by-step instructions and pictures.

I would love to learn how to sew but it would be helpful to own an actual sewing machines, maybe one of these days:) And I'm ready for the summer to be over and for fall to start...being pregnant makes me not enjoy the warm weather quite as much, glad you all have been enjoying it though:)

Thanks

I feel better knowing that others deal with similar frustrations to mine. Now I'm sitting her looking at a semi-messy house and not worrying. Kitchen is clean, everyone is fed and healthy....can't ask for much more than that, right? :)

Happy summer officially to everyone! Texas sure did welcome the season with some HOT temps the last few days! I'm scared to see our next electric bill!

We went to a little playdate/birthday party today. It was really fun and I saw a bunch of girls I haven't seen in a while. Some are expecting another baby, which is such a happy thing to see.

Drew will be on his annual guys' trip this weekend, so Daniel and I are looking forward to hanging out together and finding fun things to do while Daddy is away. I will be finishing Eclipse and reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner before Tuesday comes and we get to go see a sneak preview of Eclipse! Yay! This was my favorite book, so it will be fun to see it on screen.

My mom, Chantel, and I finally got to see Wicked last week. I know a bunch of you have seen it, too, or want to see it, so I won't go into any details. It was just SO good! I thought that all the hype would set my expectations too high and it wouldn't surprise me, but it did! I even teared up a little bit, which shows how much I was invested in the characters! Anyway, go see it if it comes your way. And go to a nice dinner beforehand. It's worth it!!! Next up, Dreamgirls!

Well, I'm off to read and possibly take a short nap. Allergies are B-A-D today and I just feel icky...since I need an excuse! :)

Cant wait to see you guys on Tuesday!

Hey Michelle, Eclipse was my favorite too, I really hope the movie is good!

I saw Wicked several years ago and it was amazing, so glad you got to experience that, it's the best Broadway production out there in my opinion!

Session

So, do you mind if I vent for a minute?

Thanks.

So, I started attacking my disaster area of a house yesterday. It's always a little messy after the weekend, but yesterday it was just horrific. So, I decided to start in the kitchen for a good scrub down. Check.

Gathered all the ball pit balls from under furniture and in far-reaching corners. Straightened up the toys. Vacuumed living room. Check. I only had an hour and a half or so to get anything done (another story for another time) before D got up and we had to head out for kickboxing, but I was SO proud of what I had accomplished for that short amount of time.

Then I cooked dinner. I had to run out the door for Bible study, so everything was left in disarray. Now I am looking back at what was so pristine yesterday and it's almost like I have to start over again. I have the rest of the house to tackle, too, like the pile of laundry waiting to be folded. Maybe I shouldn't be complaining on here and maybe get down to business...

Thanks for listening. I just needed to get that out. Or else I might have cried.
  • nillabarr
Haha! Oh darling. Don't we alllllll have days like that! In fact. You might be interested to know that 1/3 of my laundry is in front of the washing machine. 1/3 is on the small couch begging to be folded (or it's going to have to end up being ironed or thrown back in the dryer after it's fun wrinkle time on said couch). And the other 1/3 is still in the laundry basket (at least folded) in my bedroom waiting to be put away.... from LAST week. Haha. :/ Okay - maybe I have things I should be doing instead of being on here too. :)
