I blinked..........
and the summer was gone!
In my last post, Bill and Luke were counting down the days until school was out, and now they've been back in for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Some of the more 'challenging' 3rd graders have started to emerge for Bill. Julianne had one of them at the Boys and Girls club this summer. Her name is Trinity, and she can not stop talking! When her mom picked her up this summer, Julianne said the mom would just put her hand over Trinity's mouth. She also whines...a lot. Luke has started high school, and he seems to be settling in well.
I will attempt to summarize at least parts of the summer with random pictures. This was one of the our last pictures together, and it might actually date back to spring break.

Early in June was our VBS at Eastside. Bill and Julianne taught together as Gideon and the angel who spoke to him.

One of Ben's former roommates, Roger Polanco, stopped by for a quick visit and to drive Ben's car that we like to call the Phoenix, because it rose from the ashes--very long, complicated story.

We were able to spend the 4th of July with Ben in Washington DC and watch the fireworks with him in the President's back yard! :^) He had a wonderful, memorable experience during his summer internship, but I think he was very happy to trade in his suit and tie for shorts and flipflops and return to being a college student.

Halfway through our visit with Ben, Julianne flew off for her first visit to Texas to be a camp friend at the junior and senior camps. This was taken at the airport. It seems like we spent a lot of time telling her 'goodbye' over the summer. She was in and out a lot, but we just learned to enjoy being with her while she was 'in'.

For those of you who know (and love) Jason Longstreth, this last picture will make sense. After working with Eastside for 8 years, Jason and his family have moved to FL. He is now teaching Bible at Florida College. Each family made a quilt square for them, and one of our elders wives put it together as a going away gift. This was our square.

Luke and I went to the Chicagoland camp again. There were a couple of broken bones this year, but mostly lots of sunburns, bee stings and mosquito bites.
I was blessed to fly to Baltimore and help Ben drive back to FL last week. Except for so much rain, it was a very enjoyable trip. I stayed long enough to help him and Julianne get settled in, enjoyed seeing many friends from my past and came back very spirtually encouraged and uplifted.
