Goodbye Rattlesnake!!!
My husband, Luke and I stood at our kitchen window this afternoon watching as someone drove off in Julianne's little red Ford Focus. She bought it right before her senior year in high school. Luke affectionately nicknamed it the Rattlesnake because when it's first started up, it roars and makes a LOT of rattles.
It will be the first car for the girl who bought it, so it should serve its intended purpose. It was very 'no frills' with hand-crank roll down windows and a cassette player.
As we watched it drive away, we all relived our own specific memories. For my husband it was all the worrying he did over Julianne driving it and being safe or worrying about it breaking down. For Luke it was all of the rides Julianne gave him to school and possibly remembering the morning he was throwing up while Julianne was driving uphill with one hand and patting him on the back with the other saying, "It's okay, Luke, just go ahead and throw up," in her motherly voice. For me it was just the feeling of moving on to another phase of our children growing up and living in places where they need more dependable cars.

Goodbye Rattlesnake!!

Bill and Luke skipped lunch and worked all afternoon. My brother-in-law came over from Auburn with his chainsaw to help.
Hope you are all fine at your house. I must come see you, I will definitely need some "Janet" time in a couple weeks! ha
How have you all been doing?
Are you going to the RED ROOSTER THIS YEAR?
