The life of Natalie and Lydia
So it seems that mommy got the worst of the sickies. I kept thinking my cold has gotten the worst that it's going to get, and then it gets worse. I would rather it be me than either of the girls. I'm much less whiney (I think!) when I'm sick than they are. Hopefully, tomorrow it will start going away.
Natalie is such a funny girl. Lately she will stick her tongue out when I'm trying to brush her bottom teeth. This is the repeated dialogue between her and I over the last several days:
Me: "Put your tongue in."
Natalie: (laugh and smile while still sticking her tongue out)
Me: "Put your tongue in. You know how to brush your teeth."
Natalie: (laughing and smiling and nodding head) "Natalie funny!"
Me: "No, Natalie NOT funny."
She's into counting everything. She counts her pieces of food when she eats, she counts her blocks while she's building, she counts her crayons... everything. She's learned that she has to say sorry when she does something wrong. Today when I put her on the "ugly rug" (per her idea), she immediately started crying out... "sorry! Sorry!" And was heartbroken to learn that she had to continue sitting there. She also really likes helping. So today Lydia was in her highchair playing with something, she dropped it, I picked it up and gave it back to her. Natalie ran over, took it from Lydia, put it on the floor, and said "Natalie do it." Picked it back up, and gave it to Lydia. It's nice to know I now have someone who's willing to pick up something off the floor 20 times in a row when it gets dropped.
I believe Lydia will be crawling within the next month or so. She can already prop herself up on all fours and rock back and forth. And she is one determined little girl. She uses every single muscle in her body to reach for something she wants. It won't be long before she will be quite mobile. She has two teeth, which make her smile more adorable. She laughs at Natalie whenever Natalie cries. She sucks her thumb between each bite of food she takes... unless she has another toy to play with while she's eating. She wrinkles her nose and laughs through her nose when she gets excited. I can't believe she's 7 months old today.
Anyway, just felt like sharing some little tidbits. Nothing exciting, but that's my life :)

Totally sweet baby/kid stuff. As a Mom, I live for moments like these! So sweet! -
Sounds like your life is pretty exciting to me! Rosie will say I'm sorry to her toys sometimes- it's very cute! We used to have the biggest problem with Rosie sticking her tongue out when I would try to wipe her face after eating. I began to feel like a broken record saying, "No tongue." Lydia sounds like such a sweet baby! How can she be 7 months old?! -
Cute! Good thing L laughs when N cries...Judah likes to cry when the others cry. -
Natalie sounds so smart! How far can she count to? I better get busy w/ Elijah! -
Life sounds sweet! Hope you get to feeling better soon. It is hard to be the mommy and sick but I agree, better mommy than child, especially in the whining department ;) -
How fun! -
Aw, too teeth! How cute!!! CJ's just gotten her first one on the bottom. -
Children are so adorable! They are also very intertaining. So sweet. -
Sure hope you get over your cold real soon. -
Hi there! I don't think we know each other but I was cruising the 'nast tonight and came across your blog. Your younger daughter is really close to my daughter's age (Nora will be 8 months next week). I enjoyed reading about Lydia b/c it reminded me so much of Nora. She also sucks her thumb between bites, especially when she's tired. I got a kick out of knowing that there is another baby out there doing that too! -
I think it just depends on what your family called it. It was always a vacuum in my house. :0) -
Oh, they sound like so much fun... and like they keep you busy! :o) -
Oh, of course! Sorry, I didn't browse around long enough to realize who you are :) So nice to "see" you again! -
Well, I was going to punk out, too. I just can't make the drive. :( -
Oh boy is she ever! I can't wait to hear how Lydia's personality develops- I wonder if it's a little sister thing? :) Charlotte really started to show her attitude at 11 months or so. -
ARe you still doing the shopping get together? If so, what carter's store are you talking about? The pigeon forge outlet mall carters or the belz outlet mall carters(which is also in pigeon forge)? -
Hey Rach...just looked at my calendar this morning and saw that we were supposed to do the shopping thing this weekend. Oops! I can't possibly get away right now as we are in full swing with this review cycle and I'm covering some stuff for my boss while she's on vacation this week. Maybe we can get together soon in Asheville? -
Hey... yeah I am still getting settled. A whole lot of stuff has going on. It is like I have been spinning in circles. Last week I drove through Asheville (going to my brother's house) and I thought of you. I need to get your email or phone number or something. Maybe I can meet you somewhere next time. YOu could show mee all the hot spots in Asheville :)!
