Time to Post...something
Every time I get on here, I think 'even though my life is busy, no one really cares what we're up too'. Well, for any of those out there who do care what we are up to, here is a summary of our life the past couple of months.
Our summer started out kind of rocky with Phil's heart going into AFIB. That is all taken care of and he's doing great. He decided that he really need to relax and rest so he pushed his summer class back to the fall. He'll be loaded in the fall, but I know he can do it. He works so hard at his studies and I'm so proud of him for going back to school to finish his degree. He should graduate next May but if he starts to feel overwhelmed, he may push a couple of classes back to next summer and graduate in August. Either way is fine with me because he'll still be able to start teaching next fall. So we've all been home this summer (it's been nice to see what it will be like when we are both teaching or when I stay at home and he's teaching). We haven't done too much, just been hanging out at home a lot and spending time with Phil's family. We had to push our Tampa trip off until December. We'll get there sooner or later.
Lucas is just so much fun! He's walking and talking and being the cutest thing ever (well tied with his brother)! He loves to play in the water and play outside. He is such a big helper right now too. Anytime he sees paper or trash on the floor, he'll pick it up and go put it in the trash can. He loves to throw his diapers away too. He recently started saying "bubba" in reference to Taylor of course. It is just so cute. When Taylor spends the night at Phil's parents Lucas walks around the house saying "bubba, bubba?" It's cute and sad at the same time. Sometimes Taylor is the only one who can get him to eat things. He isn't a picky eater but he goes through phases. He'll eat something one day and then won't eat it the next time we have it. And he's over green beans for some reason.? Tonight we ate with Phil's whole family at his grandfather's and everytime Lucas would eat a piece of mango in the fruit salad he would say "mmmmm". too cute!
Taylor is enjoying his summer too. He plays outside and stays up late, which he loves. He is definitely a fish too. We bought the boys a kiddie pool and they just have so much fun splashing in it. He'll be going into the 2nd grade this year. Time flies! He bought his backpack and lunch box and he is soo ready to go get his school supplies, but Mama is not quite ready to go do that. I need a little more time before I start thinking about going back to school myself. One funny thing that Taylor said the other day: We have a suburb area called Valley Ranch. When Taylor saw the city flags he said "Oh, this is where they make the ranch dressing". No, Taylor, that is Hidden Valley. Well, it was a lot funnier in person I guess.
Nothing really exciting or that interesting is going on in our lives. We are just enjoying the time God has blessed us with and trying to relax before we all head back to school. I need to get out of the bad habit of staying up late and sleeping in late. Phil is so good to me to let me sleep in a lot!! He's more of a morning person anyway. :) I have a GT training all next week. I'm not really looking forward to being gone all day away from my babies. I wonder if Lucas will have a hard time adjusting. He's become such a mama's boy this summer. I'm definitely NOT complaining about that, I love it!! But, I don't want it to be too hard for either one of us when I have to start school.
I've been keeping busy with sewing projects. It is so much fun, and I'm getting much better at it! So far this summer I've made a baby quilt (that was a lot of work for a novice sewer like me, but it turned out so cute), a nursing cover, and 2 burp cloths with letter embrodery. Next week, I'll be making pillows for my students to use during "Read to Self" time.
Okay, that is about it. I should think about heading to bed. I have a baby shower for a dear friend in the morning. Hope everyone is staying cool in this summer heat (especially if you are in TX) Man! Talk about hot!! The last few days have been nice, but I've heard it will be blazing again next week :/

Thanks for the update...it sounds like you have had a fun summer! Sorry that Phil had a rough start to the summer but glad he is doing better. Your boys are so cute! Miss you guys. -
Normalcy can be a good thing. Good to read an update! Sometimes I wonder if anyone cares about what is going on with me too.... I am always on and off so quick.... I am lucky to post but rarely catch everyone else's posts... :):) -
Wonderful post. It is amazing how quickly time goes by. Every time I see Lucas and Taylor at services I just think that they are such a handsome duo. Your summer sounds a lot like ours- not much traveling but a lot of quality time at home and with family. I pray that Phil continues to improve. Also, I may have to get you to help me with my sewing. My machine has been in storage for years now just hoping that one day I will learn to use it. -
Good to hear from you. Glad ya'll are doing well. Yay for the sewing projects you've completed! My mom gave me a sewing machine for xmas a couple years ago....it's still in the box. Someday... -
Sounds like life is good for you all! So glad Phil is better! I can sympathize about starting training, I also have four days next week. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get out of bed! -
I care. -
I know what you mean about posting - I don't post very much - just read others posts...like yours. Enjoy what's left of the summer. We all (at church) like to watch Lucas and all the other little boys play (run) around - they are all growing too fast. -
I want to see pics of what you made! I am especially interested in how your reading to self pillows turned out. I guess that is the teacher in me. I bet Lucas is so big now. Does Taylor like 2nd grade? We live near Valley Ranch so I think that your story was funny. I also think it means Taylor was doing some critical thinking. Good for him!
