Just a hobby...

When I was in 9th grade I had a career class. One of our projects was to pick 4 different careers and research them-the pay, how long you have to go to school, etc. One of the careers I chose was psychoanalyst. This is a person who analyzes dreams. I LOVE dreams-maybe b/c for the most part my dreams have always been funny or weird, not scary or gruesome. I always loved hearing about people's dreams and some I am able to analyze and interpret more than others. Although I chose not to become a psychoanalyst (mainly b/c I would be in school/internship for 17 years after high school), my field of Marriage and Family Therapy did touch on it some. Dreams are so trippy--are they always trying to tell you something? Are they always attempting to solve a problem that you have? Why are some people's dreams usually gruesome and others can never even remember dreaming? I've also heard that how you feel when you wake up is actually more helpful in interpretation than what you actually dreamed. Anyway, let's share any dreams we're comfortable sharing.

I'll start--

Years ago I dreamt that a teenager was painting the whole neighborhood purple--garage doors, trees, etc. Everything. So my parents and I go over to this person's house to speak with his mom and dad. His mom was MAKING gum. On the kitchen table was a small crystal bowl with Bazooka gum, and on the stove was a huge pot of homemade gum. Then the neighbor would knock on the wall, which does not go all the way up, and the mom would say "OKAY!" and grab a handful of gum from the pot and toss it over the wall with a hook shot. And that's all I remember. Could not really analyze this one much, maybe some of you have an interpretation. I was probably a teenager when I dreamt it.

Anyone want to analyze or share a dream that we can all analyze??

Ready.....share!

When I was younger, I would have tornado dreams... ALL the time. Of course, growing up in IN, there's always the threat of one. In my dreams, I'd be doing everyday stuff, then look out the window, or up in the sky if I were outside, and see a tornado coming towards me. I'm always running away from it in my dreams, but my dreams always end before the tornado gets there or does anything. I've never figured that one out. I've never actually seen a tornado before either.

I had a recurring nightmare that my mom took me shopping and I was sitting in a little cube to the side. There was this music that always freaked me out, and no one heard me that I was scared and please would someone turn it off!

I think I must have been almost in middle school when I quit having that one.

Thank you! The bread was not homemade, just publix, but I mix dry ranch dressing with butter and it gives the bread a yummy taste. We shall have to talk dreams one day, I have crazy dreams, sometimes extremely detailed and often someone is murdered, sometimes by me! Yikes! I really don't have a ton of those dreams, they just stand out and I remember forever.

I sometimes have dreams where I'm being chased by some generic bad guy or guys, usually threatening my life. I love them. They're always intense, seem to last up to an hour, and I always just barely get away, over and over again. They're exactly like footchase scenes from old TV detective dramas. One I remember involved me being pursued (and occasionally shot at) by mobsters while running through a hospital. I'd duck into a bathroom and emerge nonchalantly in a doctor's disguise while they run past me for a while, then suddenly, "There he is, get 'im!" Great fun. What's that say about me?

There was another dream I had a few years ago, wherein something happened that changed my life forever. It seemed so real that when I woke up, I laid in bed shocked for a long time that it wasn't real. That kind of vividness in a dream has only happened to me once.

I never ever remember my dreams now...BUT, when I was very young I had one dream that I dreamed over and over and I can still remember...

It took place at my grandma's nursery school (do you remember Nana?)and I would stick my arm through the chain link fence to pet the lions that were on the other side. When I would try to pet them they bit my arm off. I would go running back to my mom (who was a teacher there) holding a bloody stump and crying to her about it. She would tell me.."I told you not to stick your arm through the fence." That is all she said and that as I recall was the end of the dream...me standing there crying and my mom scolding me...:)

Who else can we get? Jot down some names and I'll start the ball rolling. I think we won't regret it and the cool thing is that if we decide it's all bunk, we can return it for full refund in 30 days and be only out the shipping cost.
