As many pleo people are aware, my son Eric was in a rollover accident on Dec. 12, 09. My avatar is a picture of Eric's hand about 3 weeks ago. It has improved significantly since this photo was taken. He will undergo "conscious sedation" day surgery tomorrow to have an internal fixator pin removed from the 4th metacarpal, which the surgeon "shish-kabobbed" back together. To everyone of you who prayed to our gracious, loving, merciful God in Eric's behalf: Please accept my humble thanks. The surgeon acknowledged God's power when he took Eric to the OR for the second time. He came out and told me, along with Bro. Charles Murray of the Skyview church of Christ in Pinellas Park, "it is obvious to me, I am not the only one at work here." He has a long rehab road ahead to regain strength and dexterity and function. He tells me he will not settle for any loss of function.

God's power to forgive is awesome; Eric came forward and asked for forgiveness of God. So while he could live without a right hand, he could not live without HIM. To all of you who know Eric and to those of you who don't -but lifted him up in prayer anyway, thank you. Eric is living with my dad and is studying with an awesome teacher, preacher, elder from the Trenton church of Christ. God is, indeed, so good. Blessed be His name.

What I have learned: God is bigger than my problems; I can't do "life" without Him; If you ask one Christian to pray for you, pretty soon there'll be a thousand Christians praying for you. ("That's just the way it's supposed to be.")

Ain't it grand? I'd rather somebody kicked my butt than have one of my kids be sick. Aedan has the flu; hit him like a ton of bricks about 5 yesterday afternoon. To everyone that has it: GET WELL SOON!! My prayers are with you all. (And to everyone - cover that cough, cover that sneeze, and wash or sanitize your hands!)

My friend, Vangie, came thru the surgery to remove a meningioma from her brain with flying colors! She spent one day in ICU at Brack, and is now is a 'regular' room for two days. If all continues to go well, she will go home Sunday, Lord willing. How great is that? How GREAT is HE?? Thank you to everyone who added Vangie to your prayers.

My friend (and immediate supervisor at work) is Vangie Barefoot. She has been diagnosed with a meningioma, which is a tumor usually found in the meninges (covering) of the brain. Hers has grown around some pretty important structures which include a carotid artery and optic nerve, and it is pressing on her pituitary gland. She will be having surgery August 27th. Please pray for Vangie and her family. Thank you.
