Maddie was delivered via c-section (a month early and breech) and if I hadn't felt them pull her out of me, I would never have believed she was mine. I was expecting a little pale red haired baby boy. Instead, the doctor held up this very dark skinned, black haired girl. Where in the world did she come from?
Anyway...the point to this story is that I have never really seen much of myself in either of my kids. Then again maybe they are so much like me I just can't see it! I don't think either one of them looks like me. Neither of them has my coloring. Both of them turn into little brown nuts in the summer. I on the other hand turn sunburn at the drop of a hat. And both of them are blonde, blonde, blonde.
Yesterday, I had an assurance that Maddie is indeed mine. She got the hick-ups at least four times in one day. I do the exact same thing. I never get the hick-ups just once. Maybe she is mine after all!
Who do your kids look like?

I have been trying to do one of those "read the bible through in a year" things. Amazingly - I have actually kept up with it!
The only down side is that right now I am stuck in the major prophets. I just finished Jeremiah and Lamentations and have started Ezekial. Talk about depressing! If I sink into a deep blue funk, you will know why! Here is God, warning them over and over and over.......and yet Israel refuses to listen. Even after most of Judah is carried off into captivity, the ones left behind refuse to listen to Jeremiah when he says not to go to Egypt. How stubborn can you be? It is truly amazing that God didn't wipe them off the face of the earth!
On a much lighter note...
Today I receive the the last piece of my new furniture. Hubby and a friend built a spec house and we finally sold it in July. My one request was that with the proceeds we get to buy a new couch. So we bought a new couch. Then hubby found a craftsman style leather chair on sale at JC Penneys. Then I decided I would really LOVE an armoire to hide all the TV junk. I found one I liked at Rooms-to-Go in Montgomery, but we needed to dwell on it for a while. When I got around to making a decision, I went on-line to order it and discovered that it could not be delivered for over a month. Called the store and they said they could not get it there any sooner - so I went ahead and ordered it online. AND TODAY IS DELIVERY DAY!!!! Yeah!! Can't wait to see it. Can't wait to hide the TV, VCR, DVD and gamecube all away!
In my ongoing quest to declutter my house (Naomi - stop laughing) I keep coming across stuff that is too good to throw away or donate to Goodwill. I have decided to try ebaying. I even went to the thrift store yesterday and bought some glassware stuff for about 99 cents a piece and have listed it all on ebay. Check out my stuff - my seller name is
fsnorman. Anyone else out there sell stuff on ebay? ANy tips or hints?
Hope you all are having a great day!

Today we had the blessing of seeing our prayers answered. One of our families here in Auburn had their son involved in a very serious motorcycle accident about a month ago. He was lucky to be alive. Last week we had heard he had been moved from the trauma ICU down to the "Regular" ICU. And then he was at services this morning!! We were all in shock! Both arms were in casts and he had a neck brace on - but he was there.
Then at the end of services, he came forward. He hasn't been faithful for several years. Thankfully the Lord gave him another chance to get his life right. We were all in tears. Nothing gets to you faster than hearing all the grown men in the congregation snuffling!
Thank you, God, for reminding me that prayers do work!

I have mixed feelings about gospel meetings. Don't get me wrong - I love the gospel sermons and the singing, etc.. It is just that the week usually is exhausting for the kids and the mommies. As soon as Maddie walks in the door from school, she will have to sit down and do all her homework. This will cause a fair amount of fussing, which is understandable -she just got home from school! Then there is the matter of getting dinner ready by about 5:30 pm - which itself is a feat. We usually eat dinner on the late side. After dinner, we have to get baths and get dressed for services. At services, there is the usual amount af wrestling to keep the kids still and quiet for that long. After services, you have to come home and get the kids directly into bed. And start the process all over. Add into this mix, My hubby going out of town Monday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon and then Tuesday night we are having the visiting preacher over for dinner.
Maybe I will just plan to spend all day Friday sleeping! Our gospel meetings here only go through Thursday night. Never heard of that before we got here.
Ok, I am going to take a nice deep breath, say a little prayer, and start my week!
My girls look like various people in our family, depending on what day it is. ;)
Steph looks like me, Tyler looks so much like Dale and Carter looks like me. Carter is strange though because he has blue eyes and lighter hair, all of the rest of us have greenish brown eyes. He is also left handed.
